ste eibar
Has anyone used CCI .17 HMR hollow point round's? Can you tell me what they are like? They were all i could get at short notice for a lamping session tonight. I usually use Hornardy blue tip's, my rifle is not to fussy every type i've used groop well but never tried hollow point's. Thank's for any info

Thank's for any info Hollow points are 20 grain ammunition. They will require a re zero. They do not disintergrate on impact, just expand like a .22lr. They have been known to richochet and dont kill well unless you go for headshots. Stick with 17g V-Max

CCI TNT 17HMR I have are in 17 grain, I have not had to re-zero when I use these or the horndy V max red tips in my rifle. I have heard the same info being said about richocet, yet to happen YET... I have shot many rabbits with these and killed just as well as the horndy V max red tips out to 110yrds. cheers. Beardo
i've not come across the 17 grain hollow points, but if they're anything like the 20 grain i wouldn't bother.
Rimfireboy
They aren't as explosive as ballistic tips , just designed to expand. Less meat damage, they will do the job fine. Just shoot them with head shots, no problem.

Jesse James
I think its the same old story.... bit like Marmite, you either love it or hate it, you either like the CCI hollow points 17g or you don't. You / your rifle either likes them or it does not. For me they work and do the job and are a good back up ammo if I have issues getting the Horndy red tips, what works for me , will not always work for others. lee. aister
i tried some when i had the 17 hmr and the cz i had hated them.
cooter
I was given a box of the 17 grn hollow points. The CZ didn't seem to like them at all, no decent grouping, so I just used them as a barrel warmer.
ste eibar
I never got to try these on our night's rabbit shooting as i had 23 blue tip's left, that was plenty as it turned out. I tried the hollow point's on the range, didn't groop well at all. Used them up shooting rat's that seem to be running riot in the field's at the mo. £16 per box for rat shooting, i won't be getting these again. I do use Horndy Vmax red tips mostly, but if i have a problem getting the red tips, will use the CCI. lee Edited April 5, 2012 by Jesse James
Alpha Mule
I put a box of them through my CZ Silhouette and it thought it was a shotgun. Technically for game (if your placement is 'on') they are ideal,,,,, however,,,,, Edit: They were £11 a box from Sportsmans in Newport about 6 months back.
