Dekers
Probably already been asked and I missed it, so apologies if it has, your views if you have one, on either, but I was more thinking about the NS200. Cheers

mick miller
So, assuming you wish to use this on either a centrefire or rimfire rifle the NS200 will give you, depending on the scope you use, a range of up to 200 yards. I have head shot rabbits using this out to plus 115 yards I could easily ID rabbits (silhouette and eye shine) out to plus 165 yards, possibly further still. For fox I would say you could easily take boiler room shots out the almost 200 yards if you felt confident. The pro's Good value with an excellent on-board illuminator, no extra lamp required Easy set-up Good sized screen Variable illumination levels Fits any* day scope You don't need a dedicated rifle for night use The con's The switch on top can spook rabbits if you cycle through the modes as it clicks, could do with an on/off switch that is silent The battery is like walking round with a brick The rubber sleeve which seats the camera onto the scope is easily knocked off alignment, but can be re-aligned in seconds *Any scope in reality means a scope with PA, otherwise you have to use your scope with a fixed mag and even then the picture may not be as sharp as you would like The screen is quite bright and would benefit from a brightness control Not everyone can get to grips with the heads-up shooting position (in reality this is no worse than using a Pulsar N550) So how do you go about transforming a diamond in the rough to a unit that is superbly steady, reliable and user friendly? 1. Replace the rubber boot with a Cobra/Merlin DSA (£90). This gives an absolutely rock steady mount, so steady you can rest your cheek against the camera unit and maintain three points of contact with the rifle. 2. Fit a Deben small Li-Ion battery, cheaper batteries are available off the auction site but as these are cheapo ****** jobs I wouldn't want to vouch for the quality. A small Li-ion battery can be stock mounted which transforms the portability of the NS200. 3. While your at it make a short, switched lead to go between the Deben battery (requires a Deben lead £5, switch off auction site £2, and 2.1 DC Plug £2 and soldering iron), Now you can set the NS200 as you like and quietly switch the unit on/off as you move from point to point. 3. Buy a sample pack of window screen tint off the same auction site (99p). Use the 20% tint to make a cover for the screen on the unit, this will knock down the glare and reduce the brightness. Job done. Total mods cost with battery (assuming you don't have one already) £190. Total cost £790, still way less than a secondhand, warranty free N550, and way, way better in terms of performance. If you really want to tart it and have a pal with a lathe or access to one you can have a custom sleeve made (I posted the specific dimensions on here) out of Acetal or Delrin rod which fits seamlessly between the NS200 Camera unit and the Cobra DSA and eliminates any dust or moisture from entering, or any extraneous light. Oh, I use the MTC Genesis scopes with mine and have to say, for the money, these are the nuts for use with the NS200. mick miller
I will say that without all the mods the unit is still very good straight out of the box, the mods are listed purely for those that wish to have a 'near perfect' set-up. I wouldn't be without my NS200 now.

I bought a cheap chinese battery for £15 (off Ebay)It lasted 4 charges then packed up. Managed to get a complete refund from the company though. I shot a rabbit at 132 yards (22-250 caliber) using the onboard IR. The NS200 is a cracking bit of kit.
secretagentmole
If you are using a sub 12 air rifle an NS50 is all you need, you can see to 60 metres with it! Edited April 26, 2012 by secretagentmole
peek-at
this battery looks like a good replacement for the supplied one..... Li-on Battery This is the same one as is supplied with the 'nighteye' - but cheaper. Edited December 23, 2012 by peek-at
luckytrigger
Mick has about nailed it. Ive bought the usual mods cobra merlin dsa, monitor screen filter to reduce screen glare and a smaller battery. I now have a system i can swap between rifles in minutes whether im rat shooting with a pcp or using my rimmies with the ns200 there is no faffing about rezero'ing which was one of the reasons i didnt buy an n550 oh yes and also the price!
