i have been offered an AA S200 in .177 cal, with 10 shot mag conversion, BUT there is a problem, the last time the chap who owns it used it he must have put it away damp/wet !!!!!!, he has stored it in a sheepskin lined gun slip.

when he has come to take it out the barrel has lost most of it,s blueing .the trigger guard is going rusty, the air cylinder has lost it,s sheen and all the allen bolts in the scope mounts are begining to show rust, the only good thing is that all the woodwork is in good nick with no marks on it.

it comes with a Hawke scope + a couple of magazines,, i truly don,t know the value-- has anybody any idea what it,s worth ???

You need to consider the difference between the money you need to throw at it-including your time spent stripping and rebuilding against the cost of another gun in good condition. If you shop around you can find them in mint condition, scoped, for £250 so theres not much leeway to go spending on your one in question. On the other hand if you are not too concerned about cosmetics you could spray the barrel and trigger guard and live with it-as a matter of safety I would recommend that you get a reliable gunsmith to check that corrosion hasn't compromised the safety of the cylinder.Fantastic guns by the way-criminally under-rated.

As above, if you want it as a tool and the damage is just cosmetic offer him £100-£120 and buy 3 cans of spray paint, get different leaves and twigs and cammo the lot (see DIY section on how to do it). Could turn it into a very useful and cheap set-up.

Hi mate, as Bruno says is it really worth the hassle and cost to restore a gun that although well regarded, is at best and in A1 condition worth perhaps £300-£400 tops.

As well as the safety aspect of a gun which has been abused and uncared for ?

Play the percentages mate and get one thats had a bit of an easier life.Theres loads out there ,heres a couple of really good little buys .Good Luck
