Paddy Galore!
just bought jimbo's silpig s, very nice it is too, just wondering though, is this gun based on the 686 or 687? as i heard a rumour the "s" was a 686. not truly bothered though as it's nearly new, 3" chambered, and compared to my last beretta, fits like a glove. but... what's the difference? cheers, gram. Paddy Galore!
the difference will be you will hit things this time !!!! that'll make a pleasant change from trying to shoot with a l/h 686, the brownone was alright, but the stock was made out of an old pallet they found out in the yard somewhere
Beretta28g
I think its mainly the grade of workmanship. If i am right(it could just be the ones i have used) 686's dont have Multi chokes and are more or a cheaper gun than the 687's. You certainly wont go wrong with beretta! I got a sp111 only because it was a lefty and the right price, lovely gun. atvb Paul.

Paddy Galore!
ha ha , same as mine . has yours got twidly bits on the end yep, 5 of them Could you check to see if the gun is magnum steel proofed (fleur de lys stamp) please, because on the Beretta site, it suggests that its not i don't think beretta subscribe to the fleur de lys mark, from what i remember benelli don't either, mine says excelsior high strength alloy steel with a few stamped marks dotted here and there, from what i read in the book, they recommend not to use steel in fixed choke guns, and in multi choke no more than half choke, they also mention "beretta SP" this stands for steel proofed, but i can't find a mark on the barrels denoting this, anyone shed any light? cheers, gram.
