just bought jimbo's silpig s, very nice it is too, just wondering though, is this gun based on the 686 or 687? as i heard a rumour the "s" was a 686.

not truly bothered though as it's nearly new, 3" chambered, and compared to my last beretta, fits like a glove. but... what's the difference?

cheers,

gram.

I think its mainly the grade of workmanship. If i am right(it could just be the ones i have used) 686's dont have Multi chokes and are more or a cheaper gun than the 687's. You certainly wont go wrong with beretta!

686's do have multi choke option young man, my last one did :good:

just engraving and wood grade I think, nothing that will make a difference how it shoots or lasts. I got a sp111 only because it was a lefty and the right price, lovely gun.

atvb Paul.

they are rather nice, the wood is lovely and dark with nice figuring, engraving is game scene i think, mass produced but nicely done though. i'll have to compare it with silpig5's grade5, i'll bring the vernier adi :good: and we can measure your penis while we're there :D

Sounds like the standard one, what rib configuration has it got?

I have the Ultralight Version and rate them highly!

thin rib mate. there's pictures of it on gunwatch still, check out 12 bore jimbo's sales post on there, that's the one :good:

get a silver pigeon V !!!!!!!

I've already spunked it on another Schmidt and bender, also treated my truck to a full service, cam belt and tyre change, but then remembered I have my mates stag do in 3 week and my lads holiday in 5 weeks, and then giving him a lump of dosh for his wedding present and I've spent my bonus already

Good gun mate, I have the 686 silver pigeon s multi choke with 3 1/2 chambers :good:

Could you check to see if the gun is magnum steel proofed (fleur de lys stamp) please, because on the Beretta site, it suggests that its not :hmm:

i don't think beretta subscribe to the fleur de lys mark, from what i remember benelli don't either, mine says excelsior high strength alloy steel with a few stamped marks dotted here and there, from what i read in the book, they recommend not to use steel in fixed choke guns, and in multi choke no more than half choke, they also mention "beretta SP" this stands for steel proofed, but i can't find a mark on the barrels denoting this, anyone shed any light?

cheers,

gram.
