lxtav
Been looking into having a go at 22 rifle shooting and have been looking at local clubs that do prone and 3 positon. Now going up on Monday to the local clubs range for a go. What do you reckon the outcome will be. Realise its not for me and that my shottie is enough and i dont need more guns (unlikely). Or i will get hooked and next year be sending off for my FAC.

If you only have the opportunity to use it very occassionally in the feild I would say dont bother. If you want it for targets then thats fine but a Air rifle will be just as usefull on the majority of ranges and just as much fun.

Just out of interest - which part of Scotland are you in as I would love to have a shot on a range but there doesn't really seem to be any near where I am beside aberdeen that you can get into without having a funny handshake and a history of abusing goats... Regards, Gixer
Tiger955i
+1 to Gixers' question. I am from West Lothian and ranges are a bit thin on the ground. I sometimes shoot the .223 and .243 at the range at Carfraemill but would welcome the opportunity to use the .22 more. ATB

There are quite a few around here in fife, Edinburgh and around Alloa. There is a fullbore range in fife as well google fife and kinross rifle club to find it. Its just for target shooting as i fancy the challenge as they compete against other local clubs and its the only one that fits with my shift pattern. mickmep
had another go at target shooting september last year and really enjoyed it. last time i did it was around 20 years ago....i was very young then bit spoilt as there are a couple of very local clubs who shoot a winter league and now my local one has closed for the summer i've been going to one of the others that shoot all year, and they also do more disiplins than my original club, having a proper go at lsr this friday. just put in for my fac for a target rifle now my probationary period is up, had the visit 4 weeks ago and the feo reconed on 12 weeks for first grant. i think the outcome will be an enjoyable time for you, for me it'll probably get expensive with an excuse to buy more bang sticks. I think that by asking the question in the first place your mind is already made and your after clarification from fellow FAC'ers
ordnance
Its hard to know if you will enjoy it or not. Its not for everyone, best thing is to do what you are doing go to the club try it with some of the club rifles and see what you think. If you enjoy it and want to get your own rifle and equipment it can get expensive. Rifle. Glove. Jacket. Mat. Sling. Spotting scope. ect.
