Out for a buck

I went this morning to check out a piece of ground I havent been to since January to check out if there was a buck about.

I arrived at 4.30 am and set about my usual route and was pleased to find a fresh fraying stock so I knew there was buck around :D

I heard the magpies calling in the wood below me and waited and watched with my bins when out popped a vixen and 3 cubs. There was no chance of getting close so I watched them for a bit which is when the dog fox appeared. He was travelling in my genereal direction but as I tried to close the ground on him he disappeared  As I climbed over the fence there was a roe doe looking at me only around 40 yards away totally unconcerned .....

I now was on my way back to the car when I noticed another fox on its travels being mobbed my crows. I got myself lay down on my bipod and waited for it to come into a clear spot on the gorse banking , "OI" I shouted , it froze and I sent it a 100 grn .243 to which it dropped on the spot :D I paced it out at 175 paces , so well pleased with my little sortie this morning.

A buck to catch up with and also a few foxes about :D

The vixen had a scar running down from her eye which I think may have been damaged , also she was quite old with 1 canine missing and 2 others snapped in half...
