Harnser
The cereals are coming on very well at the moment and it wont be long before the barley gets to its milky stage . Then is the time to watch out for the birds to start dropping in on any laid patches or in the tram lines ,this can be very good shooting . The rape has shed its flowers and the pods are forming nicely . Again watch your rape fields now the rape has podded .The birds will now drop into the tram lines or any grazed spots to feed on the juicy young pods . With June just about to happen ,the best shooting of the year is only a month or so away when the harvest starts in the next few weeks . I always look forward to the stubble shooting every year and will get out on the fields as soon as they are harvested . I will shoot them the day after they have been harvested and follow the combine around the farm. Its the time of the year to have your rim fire in the hide with you to shoot the rabbits that will be foraging about . I love this time of the year anticipating the shooting on the stubbles . Then I am just a simple countryman . Harnser .

Sharpshooter.123
My guns are ready and waiting, let's hope it's fairly dry the next few weeks so combines can keep going.

southeastpete
I was looking forward to my first season last year. but due to working full time, and not having alot of permission, it was over far too quickly, with only one days shooting to really talk about... Hoping to plan a little better this year!

That's a good thing - the best bags on rape stubbles should come from the first and last fields cut, as well as any fields that are miles from any other rape. chrispti
Seen the pigeons taking an interest in the wheat, they are starting to cue up on the power lines Edited June 2, 2012 by chrispti
