pin
Worthy of mention is http://www.thegun.co.uk Written from the perspective of a novice through his experiences, some lessons learned in there you can avoid if you give it a read. lurcherboy
I should be embarrassed by this this but I am not. I know of no disciplines except skeet (which I suck at) and DTL. I just go up to the cage and shoot, miss most, have a laugh. I would like to know them all though without reading about them, its just not the same LB

pin
I know where you are coming from. I know shooters who are talented, but when a dicipline they don't like is in front of them they don't shoot well. Every target is just that, a clay that can be broken. The format doesn't matter, put the gun in the right place and pull the trigger at the right time and it will break. While you are learning its 50% luck, 50% concentration When you can shoot well its 10% luck and 90% concentration When you are a really good shooter its 1% luck and 99% concentration
