four-wheel-drive
People love to give us the old story that we only have a democracy etc because we have the royal family to head the country etc etc etc when in fact the only reason that they are still there is that unlike the French and many other royal family's ours have been clever enough over the years give the power back to the people so that we never needed a revolution to get the powers the people are responsible for our democracy not them. zipdog
What dont people understand, the royal bring more revenue to the country than they take away! The least we can do is show our support for the queen who has been force to dedicate her life to seving Great Britan and her empires. Muggins.
If i had to give a negative i would question the amount of royal reidences/palaces that drain the countries finances. There`s a few of them but do they need them all?
MM
read this and educate yourself KW http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/columnists/borisjohnson/9310041/The-people-bunted-for-Britain-even-the-Royals-were-stunned.html As it happens, i am rather well educated. I just find all this a bit much. Most of it passed me by and i didnt go all out about it. Look, if she ever knocked on my door and asked to use the loo, i would invite her in and put the kettle on. I just dont see any need to drive me boat down the thames about it.
gazzthompson
I'm all for the queen to be fair, Having an apolitical head of state is good for numerous reasons. we have a democratic parliament for the people to control and to elect people to lead us, but have a head of state which everyone (well, most) can get behind and come together for. It keeps us some what unified and hopefully prevents massive polarization of the population down political lines (as seen in some countries..), which is self destructive for so many reasons... I would MUCH rather have a long serving, respected queen/king as head of state (with a democratic government as well) than some ****y ******* politician every x amount of years.. And being Commander-in-chief, hopefully is a protection against any corruption of our democratic body. Best of both worlds, Long may the royal's live! They will live a long time only the best health treatment for them no waiting two week to see there GP or having to wait to see a specialist its strait in to a privet room and operation done why would you not live a long and happy life. I have nothing against the queen she is pretty harmless its all of the hangers on and the people who get gongs for just doing there job or having a good voice ie Tom Jones etc that do my head in. Gimlet
They will live a long time only the best health treatment for them no waiting two week to see there GP or having to wait to see a specialist its strait in to a privet room and operation done why would you not live a long and happy life. I agree. Nothing worse than wannabes and brown-nosers - I notice Rob Brydon managed to get himself onto a podium with some of the Royals, what's he got to do with it?- but there's no shortage of butt-kissers hanging around politics- look at the little entourage that followed Blair around like flies. We should ensure our Head of State receives, for example the best health care. They do not choose the job and they stay in it until death. Grubby politicians dip their toes into public service for only a few seconds, they grab as much priviledge and advantage for themselves as they can while they're doing it and, a speciality of left-wing politicians, while featherbedding themselves and their families with the best private education and health care at tax payers expence, they simultaneously enact legislation that places such things ever further beyond the reach of the rest of us. Then they retire after laughably short careers with vast appropriated wealth and forget that we who lined their pockets and suffered their experiments ever existed. The Queen will never retire, she never forgets us and we should not forget her. Edited June 6, 2012 by Gimlet
buckaroo23
I for one have enjoyed the week end celebrations, I'm not a royalist but I believe they do a good job not just in England but around the world, fair play and long live the queen
