Years ago I was doing a YTS scheme and the tutor borrowed a mini bus from the office and was told " Treat it like it's your own!"

Next thing you know he pulls away in a cloud of smoke wheel spinning. The lass came running out and stopped him. She rather bemusingly said! " I told you to treat it like your own!"

He just pointed over the car park to a 911 and said!

"See that Car?"

Yes she said!

"Thats mine came his reply"

Fantastic

I drive unmarked police cars so when on a blue light run or in a pursuit I have to be über über alert and observant to stay safe.

My own car is driven in the most economical way possible unlike red lining the work car everywhere.

Ooh your local. Don't forget if you see a short fat chap in a focus estate that it's time to drop the speed gun (by accident of course :yp: )

I don't bother with speed guns. The only time I do speeders is when they are stupid enough to race me!

I get more satisfaction seeing the look on their faces when your in triple figures and put the blue lights on

Even better are the idiots who tailgate me and flash me to get out of the way. It's amazing how quickly they disappear into your rear view mirror when you put the rear blues on

That sounds like great fun. I've found that on the quiet country roads round here tailgating is some thing that happens a lot. I find they soon get the message if I go slower and then slower until I drop down to a very slow speed. It seems to work particularly well on stretches of road where there is no chance of them overtaking.

Not very smart at all in my view. YOU are more likely to cause an accident by playing this game. Why not try to be a courteous driver, use your mirrors and allow others to pass safely? Instead you will cause frustration which in turn causes accidents.

Probably a few bikers here who wouldn't think that's too clever either.

On the A690 (dual carriageway)Sunderland to Durham road there is a short 50mph stretch for safety reasons (there is crossing traffic. On some days there is also a low bright sun to the west. Over the years the death rate on this road has risen alarmingly and its due to the people whe thnk 50mph does not apply to them.

I go to work at 06:30ish traffic is very light there is no need to drive like Nuvolari, regulaly get people passing me at 70 80 and sometimes faster.

I would like to borrow a marked cop car with a full tank of gas for a day, I would drive backwards and forwards between the speed signs at 49mph it would realy pee some drivers off.

That is the problem these days, people think they are invincible in their little boxes with the music up and the air con on. There is an attitude with most drivers that they are the best in the world and how could there be anything wrong with their driving.

The only reason fatal collisions are staying put or dropping slightly is that cars are much safer and as traffic cop number get culled it's going to get worse.

if people did not tailgate and flash their lights then there would be no problem

if i drive fast after coming off the field the mud goes alot further but drive slow and it falls off quicker.

As to bikers i am sure they know to be careful round the country roads after rain

If I'm driving at the speed limit and they are driving that aggressively they are already in the frame of mind to cause an accident I just simply give them time to think about their actions

Couldn't agree more. It's something I practised too. Also, if someone is tailgating you then that is far more dangerous than you slowing down to a speed appropriate to the safe stopping distance between your car and the idiot behind. The other driver is causing the danger not you.
