Wildfowler12
Evening all, a good friend of mine has recently had to sell his guns and swap to a 20g semi for all his shooting, as he is suffering with mild osteoporosis. Theres plenty of lead choice out there, and he's found some carts that suit clays/game/vermin. He's also managed to find suitable duck loads in 20g (tungsten and bismuth 4s and 5s). But... he can't find any 20G loads in non-tox that would be fit to use on geese. Now obviously he wouldn't normally shoot a 20 for this quarry, and he is quite happy to leave them for me when we're out, but I thought I'd try I find him an appropriate cartridge so he can join in when the geese come. Have any of you come across a 3' non toxic 20 gauge load? Preferably in 3s and larger? Thanks in advance.

dipper
A few years i developed a 20 bore cartridge for geese at the time i was swapping mail with David Gerard ,Home loader from shooting times and he loaded and tested said cartridge. He put it on the pattern plate he said it would be good for geese upto 50 yards load was 1oz 3 bufferd i also tried no 2 nickel unbufferd and they shot even tighter patterns. We shot geese but had no long shots. Wharf Rat
I have a similar issue. In the end I purchased a 20g reloading press secondhand. For the price of that and the cartridge componants, I reckon I will be quids in compared with the silly prices for 3" specialist carts from the shop. Loads of recipes for 3" #3 shot in 32g around. Should add that Cookoff found the press for me online - so big thanks well deserved!!!

Wildfowler12
selling homeloads is illegal and a minefield. I had no idea, home loading is something I've never had any involvement in.

Wildfowler12
Worth ringing Rainhill cartridge suppliers not far from Warrington he carries a large stock. He should be able to help. Dipper. I spoke to John last week. He can get them in but it has to be a full slabs worth as it's not something he would normally sell. £361 for 250, I think we'll just have to dig deep or forget the idea. Thanks for all your help guys.
Wharf Rat
For that money you could buy yourself a press and enough componants to make a lot more than 250 carts.
