nicholiath
I use a cz 527 its the dogs! don't know savage and have heard ruger can be a bit hit and miss ( excuse the pun) on accuracy.
Graham M
I would advise against the Ruger if I were you unless you are prepared to do a lot of work on it. I had one and you really do have to work at it to make it shoot properly. Unfortunately they use the same two-piece bolt as in their .22rf rifles which makes it a pig to shoot accurately unless you shim the two halves where they join. I made a shim from some shimming steel, and although it wasn't too hard to do, it's a pain in the rear-end to have to do this to get a rifle to shoot. The trigger is a pig as well, and I had to do a lot of work on that before I could be confident that it was going to break cleanly. The only other option is a new trigger unit, and I can't see the point in buying a new rifle and then having to spend a fortune on a new trigger because the one that comes with it is so bad. It did shoot well after the work was done though. I have an old 1950s BSA Hornet which is virtually shot-out but I can't bring myself to get rid of it. Still shoots into a couple of inches at 100yds with hand loads though, which is enough for foxy at that distance. G.M.
wymberley
Weihrauch do some nice ones if you're looking for a change. The Anschutz is a beaut' but, now, that'll be second hand.
njc110381
The CZ527 is good. Failing that you could get a CZ527.... Those would be my choices if I was buying another. Apparently CZ chamber their rifles differently and it really works with the little Hornet. It's pretty well known that Hornets can be a nightmare to get to shoot accurately but I've never heard a bad word about a CZ. Did I mention that the CZ's are the best?... wymberley
Would a CZ need some work on the trigger like the Ruger?
humperdingle
Does the CZ527 not feature a set trigger? My CZ550's set trigger was brilliant in use.

CZ, for very good reason you wont get a wonky chamber cut into a .223 / .222 blank. other than that any dedicated C/f actioned europian made gun. Straight rounds and chambers are paramount to a .22 hornet shooting at its best and the correct twist helps

Underdog
CZ non double triggers are a doddle to tweak. U.
njc110381
As the others have said, the triggers are very good and easy to work on. As far as factory triggers go they're pretty nice. It's only the rimfire triggers that are a bit naff - the centrefire set triggers are lovely.

kent
I just do not agree CZ rimfires have bad triggers, they need running in. The only realy bad CZ trigger i ever came across was a brand new .375 H&H with a set trigger, std pull was totally unusable and the set felt like it was made by a village blacksmith
baconbuttie
If I was looking for a Hornet again I would go for a Krico 401 or HW66.
