malcolm
Hi everyone, I've always forced myself to use felt/fibre wad cart's on any land where I have permission; on the basis that I should leave the place I I found it, tidy up empty catridges etc.. I was surprised to find plastic wads on the same permission, so others don't do the same. What are your thoughts? Cheers Malcolm
mel b3
i'm the same , i always use felt wads but i do on occasion find plastic wads and empty carts lying around , to be honest i've always found farmers to be the worst culprits for leaving empty shells and whatnot around but the land belongs to them so it's up to them what they do on it , just remember to pick them up if you spot them. over the last couple of years i've picked up one or two bits of permission due to other shooters leaving rubbish behind. webber
I agree with mel, but would add that it is a good idea to collect the plastic wads if you see them. Please continue to use felt / fibre wads. At least if you are confronted by the land owner you can show them the cartridges that you are shoooting. webber
henry d
I changed to fibre a good few years back as I had a day on short peas and shot 101 the ground was littered with wads as most pigeons were in the kill zone. Another reason for clearing up is that as the general public are allowed more and more access to more and more land they will go on about any mess left behind, even though they are the worst culprits. leeboy
I use felt or fibre on my permissions to try and keep things tidy. There is also the issue of livestock consuming tha wads while grazing. Alot of farmers insist on felt because of this. However I also know alot of farmers that are dead against felt or fibre saying that these are eaten more often than the plastic and can swell dramatically inside the beast. I think its a good idea to ask the farmer if he has a preference. I always pick up as many emtpy hulls as I can find rather than litter the place. One of my permissions is on an outdoor pig unit and the pigs will chew and try and eat empty hulls if I dont pick them up. I find using a semi auto can be a problem sometimes as you cant always find the empties. Leeboy
invector
Fibre every time for me. I make it a self imposed condition when asking for permission.

NewBoy2005
If plastic wad is the answer its a clay ground or a damn silly question! Loz

malcolm
I too like the semi for pigeons, but worry about lost cartridges. I try and compensate by picking up other peoples carts. And it would be worth asking the farmer (unless its a "damn silly question" LOZ) Thanks for your reassurances, especially Loz who reassures me that am I just stupid, rather than a inexperienced person looking for helpful advice from a friendly forum.
