farmer
All the harvest seems to have happened in a flash this time around. The only bit of shooting I got in was when the one farmers new combine(well new to him)broke down after the first couple of Rape fields were done. He'd just gone around the headlands a couple of times so it made perfect decoying, We still only had 32 between 2 of us in a 4 hour session Just had a walk out with the dogs and the birds have such a vast choice they are just moving from one field to the next I'm going to try and set up 4 guns in promising places on monday and lets hope(weather permitting)that does the trick . If it does I'll be letting you all know. All the best Phil

the hitman
I had been watching a big field of rape stubble all week and all looked well. Because of work committments i started shooting at 2.30. The birds would not decoy , the rotary put them off then after an hour the heavens opened.End result 4 pigeons to go in the frying pan .Stubbles are normally good up here so i shall persevere. Lord Geordie
My Sister lives in Dudley near cramlington and i noticed a few fields just of the carriageway and just over the back from my Sisters full of stubble and whats more it was LITTERED with woodies Hundreds of the things. So i would say yes stubble can produce a good amount of woodies. I went to Wheetslade farm to ask for permission but the field don't belong to him and when i asked if i could help the guys on Wheetslade i was told they were fine thanks It's getting real depressing now thats around 50 farms in the past 2 months and all personal visits (smartley dressed) and all no go's There has to be ONE out there LG

You need to be further out of town. Think how many guys in Newcastle have shotguns and air rifles. Farmers near the city will get dozens of people coming by and asking to shoot. Beleive me i have been into farms from otterburn down to newcastle and all said they either have a Syndicate that takes care of them or they have shooters already I just put as advert in the sporting shooter also asking for ANY permission from berwick down to durham and across to Hexham. Looks like i just need to keep going. LG

All the best Phil Well I gave it a go on my own this afternoon and it wasn't too bad(the others were all at work except one who's in hospital after falling of a ladder)Been raining all morning on and off so I waited till about 1.30pm set up and they came steady but it would have been better still if there would have been another couple of guns the other side the farm(about a mile away) finished at 5pm & I ended up with 21 pigeons and 1 crow
pin
LG, hows simonside for you to get to? I still have a bit of permission over that way which I have not used in a long time, not even sure if the old man will still be there or anything. If you are desperate I will dig a number out for ya..
