Olliesims
Picking up my new howa 1500 .223 on Friday, just wondering what rounds are best for 1:12 twist as I'm new to this centrefire stuff, was thinking get myself zeroed on some 55g Ppu soft tips as there cheap then change over to some hornady 40g v max for my main bullet choice, will both these Ammo's be ok? And it's to be used for foxes.

phaedra1106
Did you get the Varmint barrel?, I have one in.308 with the 20" (as no 24" were available) and am thinking of getting a .223 as well, cheapest I can find one is £575. Friend in the US shoots 69gr SMKs into 1/2" consistently with his. Edited July 11, 2012 by phaedra1106

Vince Green
When you got your variation did you ask for .223/5.56mm? If you did this stuff is good for £78 for 200 http://www.ammo-zone.co.uk/Detialed.aspx?ix=76&pg=&ss=5.56mm%20(.223) Great for playing with a new rifle but you should find PPU plenty good enough
Olliesims
Nope just went for the .223 and being new to centrefire twist rates just confused me just want something cheap to shoot as .223 ammo is a little but more than my £10 for 50 hmr rounds
coyotemaster
A 12 Twist should shoot about anything on the market, it is easily the most versatile twist available. I have shot 40s through a 12T and they grouped very well.
sixhills 69
I have a 1 in 12 twist i find 40gn V-Max group very nice and are a fast round but Mr Fox is not fussy if you pay £14 per box or £20 after all he will not know whats hit him
