the pelt man
Got a call the other day from a customer who had a problem with a Family of Foxes in his garden, so went round to take a look. The Garden was 50 yards long and backing on to another garden from the other way also 50 yards long, with a concreat shed against the fence line with a den under the slab. I set up my pigeon hide up against the house wall next to the back window at 7.30pm as the guy said he'd seen them around 8pm, i settled down with a bottle of Badger and waited. at 8.30pm a Fox cut across the garden but didn't stop for me to get a shot off, but 15 mins later a Fox came the way i'd seen the Fox go earlyer. A little squeek and she stopped to take a look, "pop" 1 down. 10 mins past then a Fox came in from my left she stopped to look at the other that was down and she was dropped on the spot, 2 down. Half hour passed and i was on the bottle of stella the old boy passed out the window to me when the third showed itself yet again she looked up to a little squeek and down she went. I was waiting till it got to dark to see any more when a 4th turned up, it stopped in the middle of the garden trying to make out why these others were all taking a kip when she was taken as well. 4 young Vixen but no adult or Dog Fox. The old boy was well happy with my nights work gave me another bottle of stella to take home with my hard earned cash. He said he would keep my number just in case, well i think i could be getting another call next summer when the next litter are born . Salop Matt
Am guessing a .22lr and this is exactly why you should be able to get fox condition on .22lr. The responsibility for the approrpriet use of any calibre on a license is down to you.
the pelt man
Am guessing a .22lr and this is exactly why you should be able to get fox condition on .22lr. The responsibility for the approrpriet use of any calibre on a license is down to you. Yes thats right, .22lr. This was the right tool for the job in hand. My Cert is worded in such a way that any of my rifles can be used on Fox and rightly so. I feel i have a greater understanding of what rifle is better suited to the job in hand than someone sitting behind a desk and not being out in the field. All 4 Foxes were shot around 35<45 yards and head shot. While i have shot full grown adult Fox at the same range and herd the bullet crack off the skulls thick middle ridge, with the Fox running of looking non the worse for it. These 4 Fox where cubs and the skull was still not fully hard or thick. PELTY Edited July 20, 2012 by the pelt man
