m3vert
Well the rain actually went off today here in Central Scotland so I decided to try for some Woodies. Access to the field was interesting to say the least with the Navara the mud made for some slippery times in 4 low! As I wasnt decoying I set myself up in some cover under a large tree where I had watched the birds fly between when going back and forward to surrounding fields. It took me a few birds to get any sort of accuracy as I felt the birds were travelling at a fair rate due to the reasonble strong north westerly winds. However in the end I managed 8 birds but sadly lost 2 to a real boggy area and 2 too some exceptionaly long grass Did manage a nice right and left on some fast birds that I was pretty chuffed with So went home with 4 pretty decent woodies for the pot! Once I had removed the breasts I cut into thick slices and coated in seasoned flour, seared the 8 breasts with 1 sirloin before adding smoked paprika, fried garlic, onion and carrot. All placed in the Tagine then added some tasty beef jus (posh gravy lol) before cooking on a low heat for 3 and a bit hours. Served up with puff pastry, tatties and veg. Then promptly scoffed by me and my other half, and got to say it was bloody tasty!
