NorfolkBoy
So my Norwich terrier is now six months old and is great BUT for one problem....Stick him in the car and within 100 yards he's vomiting. Can anyone recommend a solutions? Other than hanging him out of the car window or leaving him at home. Any Old Wives Remedies? Should I try just letting him roam around the car or keep him in the confines of his travel cage? Thanks.
Mungler
Make him sit upfront on your wife's lap, that way atleast you won't be scrubbing it off the upholstery
lurcherboy
Break him into it slowly. 5 mins in the car, then 10, car stationary building it up in time. Then do the same with you driving. It worked for a friend LB

new to the flock
Lb is correct nice and slow a few days in the driveway with the car turned off, lengthening out thr time. Then same in the driveway with the car running. Then start with verry short rides.....as in as short as it takes before he gets sick and then slowly lengthen that out. This may take you a month to overcome but well worth putting the time into. NTTF
plexer
Sorry to hear you've got a pukey dog As NTTF says just gradually increase it. We're lucky as cooper has always been good in the car apart from when we brought him home he wouldn't move and we thought the drive home had killed him. But thankfully I think he was just tired. rarms
I used the tactic LB describes, When we got her she puked all the way home, chucked up on me, on the car, on the wife. She puked on the way to get her jabs the next week, and then again for the second dose, at this point I was really thinking I had bought a bad one. But I read a bit online and tried some ideas of my own and ones I read: Sat her in the stationary car on the front seat for 5 mins. Praised her and gave her a treat. Next day sat her there and did some manouvres (3 point turn, bit of slowly forward and back etc...) on private road so no agro with seatbelts and loose dogs etc... Next day 5 min drive to the beach, lots of running and play time then 5 mins home. From there there has been no problems, she has been to Devon with us twice (2.5 hour trip) and she now rides in the car for at least an hour a day with no grief what so ever. Still a bit wary of cars, and until I open the passenger door to let her jump in she hates it, but as soon as the door is open and I say 'hup' she is in there. When I drive I have her secured in the passenger footwell with a lead to the base ot the passenger seat so she is not going to cause a distraction.
