ayano3
Could be many reasons why you can't hit them. Are they to far away ? Do you practice your shooting ie clays. Does your gun fit and do you need to pay spec savers a visit. Without seeing what your doing its hard to advise you. I always think you never miss in front. Matt Gould
hi guys me again, when im shooting pigeons i cant seen to hit many im wondering if im to far in front or not enough about 25 came by me i got 3 lol help regards scot pigeons are not the easyerst bird to hit simple as that, to become a good pigeon shooter it takes years you have got to think is the bird slowing down and and starting to come down to look at the decoys ? is it speeding up and trying to get away.............. pigeons twist and turn aswell its all about knowing your birds and knowing what they are going to do helps, also like the above member sais practice on some clays. good luck in the future Matt

The Essex Hunter
From what I’ve seen people mounting their gun on the BASC pigeon days, they track the clay with the gun as they know it is going in roughly the same path. If you keep the gun out of the shoulder as the bird is coming in, it may be easier to make the adjustment then put the gun in your shoulder and swing through the bird. You don’t need the gun in the shoulder for very long as they will be in and out of your pattern quite quickly. One of the lads who comes with me was watching the birds coming from a long way, and then was missing. I got him to not look at the bird while I told him where it was coming from, then when it was just out of range it would say ok “up and shoot it” Worked a treat as he just shot it in the right amount of time for the pattern of the gun to work and not to much time for his brain to start going oh it needs this and that and Fred said this and Fred said that. We all miss and have bad days but too much time on a pigeon will see it fly out of the pattern and other birds coming in from the flight line will see that bird go in a different direction….. pigeon pete
like the essex hunter said is a good point we have the same probs looking at far away birds ,or dose your gun fit you ? and try a bit more lead then a bit more, you could be shooting over or under the bird, then there's eye dominance ,and sticking to the same ammo ,as they all have different shot patterns a there FPS are all different ,1st you should start with gun fitting ,this is not hard to do, the first thing to do is see whats your LOP ,here is a vid with some of the basics ,there is ways of fitting without using hot oil,you can get cheek risers and so on ,also i used a lazer bore sight and practiced mounting the gun ,just use the corner of your room were it meets the ceiling and mount the gun like you want to shoot that corner and then see where the lazer points ,i found mine was a foot low @ 12 foot away so i way way to low @30 yard ,then all i did is made a cheek riser and this then brings up the muzzle it was all good ,or you just need a bit cut off the end of your but or a bit put on to change your LOP
theoben fenman
I've got an idea lets all speak in an incomprehensible code. That'll help! I'm not expert by any means but a real confidence boaster is clays. I went out the other day and knocked a load down and now I feel on top. Also it teaches you rough lead and gun positioning etc. I noticed that when I swung through the clay onto my projected lead I hit and it feels a positive movement. It is possible to over think it with fps weight of shot inside leg measurement of pigeon. But in a real world situation the thing that will help you most is confidence and fimiliartity with the gun. Dont worry about the rest and practice on clays.
Scot The Sniper
hi guys thanks for the replies. i do shoot clays quite alot and iam what i call is pretty concistent at smashing them no problems at all and i dont miss to many clays but im no sharp shooter. so thats why i thought shooting clays no problem this should be easy lol NOT. i have booked an appointment on mon 3.30pm to visit my local gunsmith to get the gun fitted. also another question is what chokes should i be using in the top i have one with 4 notches in it and bottom one has 3 notches in the choke, should i be using skeet and skeet regards scot
Dangerzone
Do you shoot top barrel first? Sounds like you are shooting quarter in the top and half on the bottom, that will be fine, leave skeet/skeet for shooting.......skeet!!! I'd swap the quarter(4notch) and half(3 notch) around, i.e. quarter on the bottom barrel and fire the bottom Barrel first.

Scot The Sniper
forgot to mention i asked him how much for the fitting, he handed me a new wheel bearing for his shogun and we called it even not bad deal i thought as the bearing is all in one and bolts on.
