  1. I don't agree with much that the originator said despite owning a gas ram. Mostly because his knowledge (?) of how the springers power degrades over time if ridiculous. But I have to also counter some others arguments about a gas ram being a waste of money over a pcp. Yes youve correctly identified that you could buy a S200 for the price of a gas ram rifle. But, as I've said many times, you cant get the charging equipment as well. That's where the difference is. Never owned a hunting powered springer but most of the good ones seem to be around the price I got my gas ram, albeit it second hand. I probably wont part with this rifle. Its perfect for my needs as I can pick it up after months of inactivity and go shooting. No need to fill up a diving bottle or pump it up. Same deal with a springer of course. Like I say I really dont know what the comparitive recoil and surge are like or how accurate either are compared to each other.
  2. Only asking because I couldn't confidently hit a barn door with a pistol at that range. Fair play to you! I used to own a 2260 the workings of which are almost identical, which leads me to wonder if the 2260 is higher than 6 ft lb.
  3. Have you ever watched you've been framed!!! Your asking for trouble with that plastic chair Personally I lie or sit on the ground.
  4. I suspect your right. So it is not a true representation of the whole of the airgun hunting world. Also I suspect the majority of the no camp will simply not vote...
  5. Quite a sporty shot with a pistol! What range was that at?
  6. Nope. Where I shoot most frequently I load the rifle and set out at one of the optimum points of my hunt. Would love to check at home but a gun shy dog makes that a difficulty. If I miss a couple of shots I might have a quick test, depends how frustrated I get. I miss more sitters than snap shots so for me the logic behind setting up a target at 30m and going prone and firing a test group is flawed. A good poll but I fear your only getting meaningful responses from the yes camp.
  7. They are nice accurate and hard wearing rifles. I don't like to admit it but mine hasnt seen a service in the 3-4 years since I've had it and I doubt I did before tbh. Never been ratting so cant really say but it sounds quite loud as does the reloading sequence. However I have on numerous occasions fired and then reloaded strutting round the corner 5 ms away, thinking that it would be clear, to be confronted by a field of intrigued bunnies. Maybe t just sounds loud after creeping through the woods. Like I say cant comment on ratting but great for rabbits and squirrels. Perfect for my uses but I will also admit a lack of money for a cylinder or pump led me down this route. Any questions pm me I will be glad to help.
  8. Retromic - ah so thats your problem, he is new he knows nothing... I might add that this gent may be new to the forum but could well have more experience than many people on here. There is nothing wrong with what he says so why complain?
  9. Cant even find anyone round here that will just look at mine and add lube...
  10. Ha didn't want to be over confident and couldn't be bothered to search through all the back copies either!!! So in short fisherman mike unless you are on the worlds longest bunny stake out you should be safe
  11. I'm pretty sure technical airgun in airgun world did a test and found no real detriment after leaving the rifle cocked for weeks. I think on that basis 15 minutes shouldn't be a bother.
  12. I have experimented with shooting sticks in the past and find they are a bit to much of a faff. They are also quite difficult to support. Going to go and practice just getting into the kneeling position
  13. Thanks for the replies especially the video. I will be practicing the sitting one for sure! That kneeling position he does though... Yeah I keep trying to get their but maybe I'm just not flexible enough :(
  14. Just getting back into hunting after a couple of years of absence Had a good night out the other night with 3 from 5 shots with 2 being clean misses. However it occurred to me that my strongest stance is prone, not particularly conductive to hunting in the long grass in the summer. My other stance is standing but its far from perfect especially when trying to pull of 35m shots. My issue is a mid ground. My last shot of the day was a standing shot at 35m because I could not see the target prone. Now I pulled it off by it was far from ideal and I really needed a semi rested position to fire from. Problem is the only kneeling position I have ever tried to use is the infranty type where the front foot is on the ground as is the rear leg. That is an issue because it is less stable than standing. So what kneeling positions do others use and which is the best supported? The amount of movement isn't an issue, as I say its mostly trying to see the target. Not sure that is the best explanation of my problem but can anyone help?

    So!

Probably would have to go aa s200. BUT there is also the price of charging gear. If its going to be single shot anyway I would stick with the springers.
  16. No its not a law but people are so busy talking about their civil rights they cant climb out the own *** and just say what there doing then they are a whole less likely to get visited by a group of blokes with G36s. All I'm saying is some people are bringing it on themselves and doing the easy thing in this country and blaming the Police.
  17. A few things. Firstly yes its a training video. Another thing is maybe if people used the system that I'm fairly sure exists in all forces and phoned there control room they ask you for your name, reg, permission area, what your shooting and a contact number for you. Then if some mong sees a bloke in a field with a shotgun and phones the police you will get a phone call asking if your there. Saves the fuss. So if you don't like people pointing guns at you ring the police before you go out and stop whingeing. Also for everyone saying why all the fuss look at the over side of the coin. Could you imagine what the media would say if a single bobby was sent out to have a word with your suspect. They would be calling the police negligent for weeks. On the subject of Air support units I know personally they catch many poachers and all sorts of other criminals. Also to the guys in the field next to the airport firstly hope you enjoyed ypur own personal air show. Secondly it may have been as simple as they had a new bloke on board and two well camoflauged blokes are pretty much perfect training for FLIR operation. The overiding comment here being if you help them they will help you. So phone before you go. AND MAN UP!
  18. Damn! Never spoke to anyone at theoben as mine was at least secondhand so can't comment on the service. Shame though when I think that my gun is probably older than me and has never been serviced that has to stand for something. Just hope it doesn't break now because theres no way I'm trying to take it apart!
  19. I also get a bit mithed as you are trying to help these people and alot expect quite a bit in return. My suggestion would be look at game shhots in the area and see if the keeper can put you in touch with the relevant person. It could even be the keeper organising thepigeon shooting in the area. With a shoot it is easy to pay them back so to speak by beating or work parties.
  20. Im no expert on this at all but I fired plenty of shots by just happening to wonder under a flight line that came across as maize field. Then I could conceal myself until the optimum time to shoot. Shame I can't hit anything.
  21. My gun came with half a tin of accupels. They seemed allright but i was new on the scene then. I decided to go up to napier uph. What a mistake wish i could still find accupells awesome pellets I now realise. The real success story for me though is air arms fields. Fantastic pellets.
  22. Um if it knocks them over then alls good. Clean it if you want your decision. Right to try to shut people up who calculated it took 4ft/lbs to kill a rabbit? My guess is that it was infact a bit of research (which in certain places means GUESS). Even if we assume its around that mark then quite simply your pellet hits mr buggs in the head at 25m. If its got 9.5ft/lbs original muzzle energy then if the model is correct it will kill it. Then logically a 12ft/lb will kill it too. The key point of the extra wont improve it is entirely correct. You can only be fine-wounded-dead. Once you have crossed the dead point adding more wont help!
