You shoot Mackerel? :innocent::P

I asked my FEO about this. He said rimfire was OK (As long as they weren't on the Fish Mongers slab at the time) but if you were to use a .243 it might be seen as "Over Kill"! :lol: :lol: :lol:

On a serious note - I don't find much of a problem with the smell of rabbits as long as their bladders are emptied as soon as they are shot and then gutted as soon as possible while still out in the field andf left to cool down. With a bit of practice a rabbit can be gutted in a matter of seconds and it makes for less weight to carry!

What smell? :hmm:

Squeeze method? :hmm:

Just unzip, pull free the stomach and let the lot flop out.

As Blunderbuss says nip out the scent glands when you skin. I cut through the pelvic girdle too and pull out all connective tissue.

Never understood this salting business. Paunch properly, don't puncture the bowel and there's no problem.

A lot depends on how you do it. I don't wear gloves but I don't get smelly fingers as I don't handle them that much - just slit the belly and flick out the innards, then chop off feet and head and take the rest home to skin. When I'm at home I just quickly pull off the skins, take out heart/lungs and back end and rinse.
