pigeon pete
Yes and we only use 12, the Romans used 10, then 12 and the Hebrews have used 12 for nearly six millenia. As I have said, the knowledge of some is woefully inadequate to debate religion, when people turn around and say that Kane (sic) killing Able (sic) is the reason he/we got thrown out of the garden of Eden. as i said kane and able must of had sex with eve then ? Diceman
To sum up, don`t just pick up a thought or statement and run with it, reflect on it, see if it is true or if there are some other facts or concepts that are opposing the original thought/statement and then experiment with all of them to give another thought/statement and carry on as before, it is a learning cycle and we all learn from it. I certainly have. Henry I think we have found some common ground...have you read my sig?
Browning GTS
I was born, i will die. The bit in the middle I make the most of. I do not waste said bit in the middle by believing and tying myself down to what might be. If something happens to change my mind I will believe. pigeonblasterian
Oh come on.... Have you tried to get rid of Jovis or Mormons from your doorstep.... they are all programmed to keep banging on! The following is how to get rid of Jehovas from your doorstep and is 100% tried and tested. Knock on the front door so i looked out of the front room window and saw three smartly dressed folks outside the door. Two males and a female.I knew they were Jehovas so just ignored it and waited for them to leave. They are persistant and five minutes later another knock.I said to the mrs "Go and see what they want". The wife opens the door and after a couple of minutes i shout to ask her who it is. She shouts back that it is "Jehovas witnesses". So i shout "Tell them to **** off". They did not hang about and left.

Diceman
are you talking about the English being christians as the scotts and welsh and irish were Celts ,mind you the English were pagans first The Celts spread though the whole British Isles, Including England, as well as most of Western Europe. They were were a race, not a religion. The modern romantic notion of the Celts vs the English is more to do with nationalist sentiment and Tourist Boards. henry d
Pfft, don`t give me estimates I want answers. Ah, there we have it Henry! Man's problem in three words. "I want answers"! You may want them, but you don't need them. "All the problems in the world are caused by Man's inability to sit quietly in an empty room." Who said that? Descarte or Pascal? Anyone know? See what I mean? We want to know too much. It was irony, many posters on this topic want proof and I was just applying the same reasoning. as i said kane and able must of had sex with eve then ? No not necessarily, read a few commentaries on Genesis 4 and 6. There are occasions of it through the bible so it cannot be counted out, such as Gen 19:30-38, however throughout all the history of the whole of the human race we have been doing it. Henry I think we have found some common ground...have you read my sig? Yes. Without critical reflection we can never come to a balanced conclusion/idea. Robl
The following is how to get rid of Jehovas from your doorstep and is 100% tried and tested. ...... Alternatively, just tell them ‘I already follow a different path/faith.’ Or words to that effect. They will politely thank you for your time and leave. Their missionary work is to bring faith to those with no faith, they don’t try and convert people who already have a faith. Or, if you want to play silly *******. Tell them it’s you birthday and invite them in to join the celebrations. They’ll ****** off, as they don’t believe in celebrating Birthdays (nobody in the bible has a Birthday Party.) (although, if you try this they might come back. If you do the other faith thing they’ll mark you off their visiting list and never bother you again.) Robl
Didn`t work here, until I debated their theology and their methodology of youth work. If you invite them in and engage in discussion then they will come back. If you tell them you aren’t interested because you already have a faith then they won’t. I would guess you invited discussion rather than just saying you weren’t interested.

Katzenjammer
There is a picture further back in this topic that would cause riots in certain countries were it to show their prophet toting a gun! Some interesting debate here but as a British person it beats me why anyone would want to follow any religion from the middle east be it Judaism, Christianity (a part jewish sect) or Islam (another part jewish sect). These three have caused more mass bloodshed, hate, anger, torture and much more besides over the centuries than many other world religions. You followers have a helluva lot to answer for when you meet your God! P.S I am religious and have beliefs but thankfully nothing to do with those blood soaked hate filled religions!
