Also, am not flying out til Thursday evening so any advice on things to do/see with a mild hangover gratefully appreciated. Achtung Spitfire!! Personally I would stay on the outskirts of Munich and catch the train in. It's dirt cheap and runs with German military timing. The German police were playing 80's cheese out of the loudspeakers on their riot vans which was rather bizarre but kept the crowd merry! The scale is beyond anything I have ever seen and it is just absolute fun from start to finish with hilariously drunk Germans in lederhosen and their wives and girlfriends in maids dresses with plenty of balcony showing! The beer was delicious and served in litre and a half steins TEN AT A TIME by the serving ladies. We had an oompah band playing TNT by AC/DC, we ate pretzels and chicken with a pork dripping dip, we sang songs, we danced on tables and benches and nobody got lairy with anybody else. The following year we done Stuttgart beer fest... Obviously not a patch on Munich but learnt our lesson and only went there for two nights.
