smig4373
Has anybody been on or knows anybody whos been on a guided shooting break with SAC Shooting in Aberdeen...Myself and 2 others are thinking of taking a pigeon shooting break in the spring...Ive trawled the net and SAC seems to be the best value...I know theres always a risk of blanking or having poor days on these sorts of things...But im sure we could find our own entertainment in the evening if the shooting was ****...Thinking of spring next year....£400 ish for 3 days shooting and 4 nights B+B pack lunch and evening meal etc...All kit included...thoughts??? Has anyone had any experience of these types of breaks...or make a suggestion of a different package.. henry d
I`m always wary of any "sporting" agent who has pictures that show many more geese per shooter than guidelines would advise.

In this day and age you are spot on fella. The pinks up here are shot to **** and never get a break, being driven away non stop by inland overshooting. This isn't secondhand info, having witnessed it way too many times. I don't like "rigid" limits,as circumstances maybe dictate when a wee bit more can be allowed, but I can say the majority of our goose guides are greedy ***** with very little respect for their quarry. Haven't had much dealings with Scott from SAC but in general haven't heard too much bad about him and usually gets folks on the birds. Not sure what Mark Robson has going, but can't recommend him enough. The only paid shooting I do is with him and his knowledge and respect for the quarry is very refreshing. I know Fifes like Glasgow compared to the Aberdeenshire paradise, but you can't have it all. Edited October 14, 2012 by sako751sg
henry d
Same as the pinks here, used to see them on the same old flightlines and then there came some people who let their guests sit in a hide from dawn to dusk waiting for geese to drop in and guess what happened to the flightlines? I am not saying that the guy above is a charlatan, just that caution in all things agent based.

Just read original post...i did say pigeon shooting...i aint interested in shooting geese... Sorry fella, did look as though we were going off topic a wee bit but I think the point Hendry was making was that the fella has pics of overly big bags of geese and maybe wasn't a good sign. SAC has a good skelp of ground and anytime I've heard from anyone on the doos with him they have been happy enough.
henry d
My point is as said above, if a guide will allow people to shoot over sized bags of geese, would he also allow someone to go out with a quad and spinner to attrack pigeon to a field....I dont know but it does make one ask about a persons principles/ethics.
