detoldim
Hello, my name is Michael de Toldi. I am a French waterfowler in Normandie near the city of Le Havre on the river Seine. I am 38 years old, I am married and have 4 children + 1 dog. With the authorization of the forum owner, I'd like to talk to you about the project I succeeded to achieve in France. Two years ago, I created a website in order to help sportsmen to meet and swap days of shooting/hunting. The website provide also weather forecasts for waterfowlers. Ducks movements in France depend a lot on the weather conditions. All features are of course completely FREE ! As hunting and shooting are highly attacked in France and also in the UK as far as I know, I feel that is important to help it in the way you can. This is my only aim in this project and I didn't count all hours spent to reach it ! Even if it is still young, the website seems to be a success. Since its creation, 39 swaps have been organized. I recently succeeded in the (very difficult for me) translation of my website because I said to myself that it could be also interesting for UK and Irish sportsmen. It is not 100% finished but I feel that, for a first step, it is enough to use the website. If my translation is not understandable (or to funny to be serious), please help me by proposing me something else. The address of the website is http://www.chassetroc.com ('chasse' means hunting/shooting and 'troc' means swap in French). There is also an alias named http://www.nemrod.eu for UK and Irish users. The name of the website is ChasseTroc but I thought that it wouldn' be a good name for English speakers. I therefore chosed Nemrod. Click on the UK & Ireland flags on the left of your screen and if you need further information, please don't hesitate ask me. I know a bit about hunting/shooting in UK and Ireland but I certainly made huge mistakes concerning all the ways available in your countries. Please, tell me what is wrong and how to correct things. Concerning the weather forecast, the tides, the sunset and the moon phases, I propose the French hunters/shooters to add all their places. If you want me to add new places in your countries, it is very easy for me: just tell me! I hope that such a website will also help you to meet and to discover other ways to live our passion. It can also become a way to get contacts in France if you want to discover how we do it here. Thanks to have read me until here! If you have any other idea to help me to provide this idea and its website, I would be very happy to read you. Cranfield
Michael contacted us to ask for permission to publicise his site on Pigeon Watch and Teal was very pleased to give the OK. Hopefully, some of our members will find it very useful.
Highlander
Brilliant idea, wish I'd thought of it. Something to think about if those of us who travel abroad for our shooting could get together with like minded people from various other locations and organise shooting breaks. detoldim
I know that the first impression is very important and I am a bit ashamed because I found a HUGE bug on the UK and Ireland version of the website. You certainly had problems while navigating through the pages. In fact, it was very often coming back to the French version... somehow unusable !!! I am very sorry for this problem. I seems to be fully corrected, now. If you still have problems, please tell me. It is quite difficult to build such a website when you are not a IT pro...
detoldim
Hi, lots of you are asking me questions privately about the way ChasseTroc works : maybe I should tell you a bit more about it on the forum. On the site, you enter what you would like to try (waterfowling, roe deer shooting or what else) and you also enter what you could propose in exchange in fact your every day life way of hunting/shooting. The website can also be a good way to try new territories : it's very often the way it is used by the french waterfowlers. When a sportsman is interested by your proposal, he pushes the 'contact' button on ChasseTroc. Then you receive an email and you can start a chat on the site. Nobody sees your personnal email address. It is ony used by the website to tell you that something happened. The conversation takes place on ChasseTroc. After the contact, you can also decide to continue the chat on the telephone. The aim of ChasseTroc is to facilitate that contact : that's all. If you find an agreement, great, you win a nice shooting day and maybe a new friend ! If not, too bad, you'll have to try again. I have a question for you : lots of you seem to be interested by the concept but almost nobody (so far) registered... What is for you the explanation. The idea is to fresh ? It is because it's a french website ? No trust ? It is not adapted to the UK way of hunting/shooting ? Thanks for you ideas about that, it could help me a lot. pin
It might be me not reading things correctly but I thought I would try and propose a weekend pigeon and rough shooting in the UK for exchange with similar in France - it seems I can't do that? detoldim
It might be me not reading things correctly but I thought I would try and propose a weekend pigeon and rough shooting in the UK for exchange with similar in France - it seems I can't do that? In fact, this feature is available. Enter your proposal : weekend pigeon in your region Enter your wish : weekend pigeon "X - Outside UK & Ireland". Precise clearly there what your want eactly. If you speak a little french write some informations in the comment zone ("Add an important detail about the date, the place of hunting/shooting, the conditions of exchange"). If you don't speak french, I can help you. Tell me what you want to say and I'll try to translate. I can also go on your account to validate that things are done correctly. When you've done that, I will recall all french sportsmen (more than 2.500 already registered in all frech regions) that they can have a look at the UK side of ChasseTroc for such kind of swaps. You can also have a tour on the french side of ChasseTroc in order to look for people proposing pigeon features but the problem is that you'll probably have to talk french... There again I can help if you want. I hope that I answered your question.
