a night on the wash with a difference...

Had a good 2 flights on the marsh today. See quite a few duck on the tide this morning and the geese both flights. Thanks Harrycat for treating me to cooked breakfast after the morning flight.....but the highlight was tonight, we had the apache helicopter on the adjoining marsh practicing. What a spectacular sight it is. They circled the target range and the target ships in the wash many times. We stayed and watched the tracers and just didn't want to leave until the apache finally left after pounding the targets for at least thirty minutes. What an awesome bit of kit that is. If one comes up for sale on here I want first dibs.

Fenboy, you must have worked for Norman then. Harry, its been good to help, Rob, got right under the geese tonight but just a bit to high. The lad I took out had shots at mallard this morning, if I take someone on their first flight I do take my gun but let them do the shooting and if I get a pop after them I take it. No I didn't dirty my bag but its all ready to go in the morning.

No I used to do a bit on the side for Tommy Lineham when he had the contract.

Fowling is like Marmite, you either love it or hate it. It's the hardest of all country sports for sure and very rewarding if you actually take something off the marsh. Anyone wanting big bags should save their club subscription and spend it on duck at the Chinese.

That's a long time ago then fen

Thanks Graham - could fish that way as well and my grandmother lives in Sutton on sea so if I could put up with her for more than 5 minutes (she is almost 100 and mad as a box of frogs) then could stay over!

Will ask her indoors when she can look after my mutts all day as they are too small for fowling!

Hi Oscars dad, try Gloucestershire Wildfowlers (great website) I'm in Solihull and can be on their closest marsh set up and flask at the ready in 50 minutes. Morning flight and home just as the family have dragged their sorry ***** out of bed.

Can't go wrong. ( they do a trial flight for a small fee)
