Hi,

Looking to see if there are any clubs near Liverpool or southport? I'm from bootle so inbetween. I have searched the forums but the only topic I could find is dated and the website also seem dated so not sure if they are still up. So if anyone shoots round here can you let me know. Also don't own a gun, so clubs were I could rent or hire preferably,

Thanks

Ryan

Hi Ryan , I'm a member at altcar clay pigeon club, were a small but friendly club we meet on Sunday mornings at the altcar army camp near formby gun hire is available but you may need a lesson before your let loose on your own for safety reasons. If your interested I can get you the contact details, we do sporting and DTL layout :)

Thanks for the replys,

Rainford and altcar are the closest but Rainford wants a license so I need to apply and get a cabnet wich I can't really afford right now, maybe next year in the summer that might happen. So I think I'll see about altcar first.

Also one question even tho it's a while away, when applying for a license do I need a reference or a mentor?

Thanks

Ryan

For shotgun, you need a reference. A 'professional' type person, who has known you for some time, and feels that you are stable / sensible enough to be allowed to own a gun

Mentoring only happens with FAC.

here is Merseyside police's details

Give them a call if there is anything you have any questions over. Most police firearms depts are pretty helpful

Be prepared for a application to take a long time. North Wales are currently 4-6 months for shotgun certificates, and that is not unusually long

Thanks, question wise I think I'm good but I'll keep those details incase. I'm not planning on applying and the wait gives me time to scrounge money together for a case.

Thanks

Ryan

Just looked at there site 80 isnt a bad price, think I can spare that on my next pay check. Ill look at applying in the next week or so. I dont need a case until my SGC comes through and I can install it, ring the police and they will check it and hand me my SGC if im correct?

They will want to inspect the case before they issue the SGC, once they have inspected it you normally get your SGC within a few weeks to a month.

Bit of a chicken and egg situation.

Yer, ill aply in the next couple of weeks and look at getting a case round christmas.
