the hitman
Archie's name was mentioned on a thread recently, and it reminded me of the only time i met him. He was at the CLA gamefair at floors castle Kelso in 1989, his stand was always busy , but i got the chance to ask him a couple of questions, he seemed a nice chap , and only to pleased to share his knowledge with everyone, and sign books. Did anybody else meet the man or better share a hide with him.

the hitman
I think it was how many decoys he used, and did he think pigeons were on the decline.
Cranfield
I saw him at a Game Fair at Broadlands in Hampshire, but couldn't get near enough to speak to him.

lurcherboy
I think he will be remembered as a legend long after Digs and anyone else who shot more than him in a day ever will. No disrespect to those latter boys but you know full well what I mean. LB
Cranfield
I didn't realise there were "professional" pigeon shooters, until I heard about Major Coats and read his book. Many people were already accidently using some of his ideas on decoying, before he published them, but much of what he wrote was considered very innovative. I think the days of people like him, Fred J Taylor and his brother Ken, Colin Willock, BB and many others, are long gone.
