"Let's eat Grandma!" or "Let's eat, Grandma!"

Punctuation saves lives!

Woman without her man is useless.

Woman, without her, man is useless.

Your choice!

Personally it's the I/me one that gets my goat: "He gave I a gun and me went shooting with it." No, no, no, no, no!

With the greatest respect, 'being fair' is actually the last thing you are being.

It may surprise some people to learn that shooting is in fact perfectly compatible with the correct use of English. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong by all means. Or perhaps you feel we should all speak and write like dolts because we shoot?

And when did "English Teacher" become an insult? I must have missed that meeting.

I will stick to shooting and leave the grammar to you :good: BB

people that consistently moan about punctuation....

not everyone is perfect.

we're not in school anymore, so lets leave the english lesson's and playground antics to the children in year 5.

i dont think some of you realise how offensive some of these comments are , especially to people that may well have learning difficulties.

time to suck it up gents, and accept the world we live in.

or alternatively, return to your motherland. :innocent:

Seriously?

You feel the need to act all grown up and correct spelling mistakes, and yet you act like a child while doing it. Very clever...

May i point you towards the nearest playground as i am sure that the children would appreciate another immature playmate.

Or you could just do yourself a favour and grow up a little bit.

Sorry :lookaround:

No, I meant consistantly, as in every time, without fail.

generally because they are sad, lonely people who only highlight the error's of others because mummy didnt feed them on the tit for long enough and now they feel the need to repress their emotions and pick on others.

or they're just knob's. take your pick.

To be fair, the theme of the topic is the misuse of English. Not so long ago someone started a topic complaining about grammar and spelling pedants. That one flew from page one. It was a hoot. No one was safe.

It is ill-mannered to correct a person's use of English without listening to what they're trying to say. There's nothing clever about mockery; but at the same time there's nothing wrong in trying to maintain a minimum standard. If we continually debase language to accomodate the lowest common denominator we'll eventually be speaking in grunts. Don't take it to heart.

What I don't like to see is two people who cannot agree on a subject resorting to insulting each other by picking holes in their posts. That's like children who won't share their toys. You feel like banging their heads together and it happens too often.

Some grammar and spelling on here is so bad its brilliant. It gets particularly entertaining from about 11 pm onwards on friday and saturday nights. :drinks:
