Daystate decoying

I had hoped for a full afternonn at the pigeons today, but work commitments left just an hour of possible shooting time.

I whizzed home, grabbed the decoy bag, net etc and thought I would give my ears a rest and use the air rifle :good:

I set up the nets round an oak tree, and put the deeks out in a comma shape with the head into the wind to my right. Having practised a few days earlier, I was confident of the milldot aim points out to 70 yds. (Yes its an FAC!!) It wasn't long before the first bird came in bang on target in the killing zone 35 yds out. Down like a stone :good: I managed another 5 for six shots total with the furthest at 65 yds. :good:

The rifle is quite the most awsome piece of kit I have ever used. Everyone of the pigeons dropped like being hit by a Mac truck. It is stupidly quiet, even on the high setting, 40ftlbs, its no louder than my sub 12 weihrauch :o

I can see it being the most used rifle in the cabinet

Good work that, gotta love Daystate !

Not yet had a go devoting with an air rifle yet though !

:D

Give it a try SS, its really hard to walk away from the shotgun cabinet, and obviously you will miss out on the cruise by birds. However, I've found that with real birds as decoys, they will often be quite content to drop in and seem oblivious that the bird they are next to is no more. A few seconds is all you need.

These guys inspired me to give it a go. Awful soundtrack though

nothing better than decoying with an air rifle,,brilliant,,had three first time i did it but could of hit more but some would land and fly off straight away,,got to be honest i enjoyed it more than using the shotgun,,its amazing just how sharp their eyesight is cos the slightest movement and their off,,,well done and great gun by the way,,cheers evo

Good shooting, nice looking rifle. What's its output on the lower setting?

I ran it over the chrono the other day. My combro is looking a little suspect with screen weep so I couldn't get accurate readings. I believe its about 20% lower so it would therefore be about 28ftlbs...ish.

I have another on order so will post the results and maybe a shot string to hep anyone who is interested.

good going that pal, even with a fac air gun. i to get as much pleasure out my air rifles when shooting them,i like the pellet to go exactly were i aim; and when it does its so rewarding.well done

Thanks for the replies.

I really enjoy decoying with the shotgun, but this is a whole different level of enjoyment. Will definately be doing a lot more of it :good:
