Gordon R
Very tidy job. I presume the pillars are independent, as they are a bit far apart to be all one piece.

Paul223
The key is making a jig. Probably the biggest problem is keeping the stock square to the saw bed, i used some 3/4 ply 5 or 6 inch by may be 14 inch or so, this would sit flat on the saw bed, a smaller piece of 3/4 ply is screwed at 90deg on the 5 / 6 inch edge end which then in turn is fixed to the butt using some screws into the recoil pad screw holes. The pistol grip end is wedged so the stock is firm and will not vibrate, you can see this in the 3rd pic down on the post Brian has quoted, the 3/4 ply jig is fixed in the vice. Masking tape allows you to mark the area to cut, and if you've made the jig correct then this will hold the stock true so that the cut is square and even both sides and will make the whole job easy! I cut mine using a band saw. Before cutting make sure the screws in the jig won't interfere with the cut, does not matter if you cut the jig though. Hope this helps.
