PhilR
You've made a very good job of that. I've got an old Perazzi ABS case in the attic in which the foam beneath the fabric lining has crumbled apart. I'd thought about ripping it all out and doing as you've done, but never got around to it. Would you mind telling me whereabouts you get the foam from and what did you use to cut it with, just a craft knife? Did you use an adhesive to glue the foam into the case? Hey Phil I haven't done it for this application, but have cut foam for various bits in the past; A very simple way to do it is with an electric carving knife if you have one. I find if you use a craft knife you have to press down and distort the foam and this doesn't give you flat side walls if that makes sense. Mark out the shape carefully using a biro or felt tip pen, stand the foam on it's side, push the carving knife through it and cut out your shape. I tend to use a slightly thinner foam piece than needed, then when all the holes are cut out I attach another thin piece of foam over the back of the cut piece to give yourself a foam bottom in each hole if that makes sense; So I sandwich two pieces of foam, bottom piece is uncut, top piece has the holes cut out. Hope that makes sense, you have my number if you fancy giving that a go and want me to explain better. neil3728
I got my cousin to do all the hard work he has a laser that can cut the foam using CAD very funky macking and rather small aswell. he is a bit of a perfectionist and wasn't happy with the final fit. He wanted to redo it but as i wasn't paying its good enough.
PhilR
Thanks Cos,that makes sense. We've got an electric carving knife I'll make sure Mrs PhilR isn't around when I use it though Did you get the foam locally? Neil, I don't think I can stretch to a laser cutting machine and will try Cos's method.
neil3728
Don't think i would have tried the carving knife method. Its my cousins job he does loads of custom milling work and engraving aswell as the custom foam for airsoft.

fenboy
Be aware that some foams have been known to ruin the bluing on guns , I dont have first hand knowledge of this but read it somewhere.
oscarsdad
You can make a hot wire cutter easily enough - my archery kit is all in a custom cut peli case cut with a hot wire cutter and that worked really well.
