Kikkan
Hehe,I am on the buss while editing this post...mobilephones are getting really good these days. Now for my question. On this childish looking picture i made, you see that i am between 2 fields. Usaly the wheat field shuld be the best, but it seems that the birds are hitting the barley field. I saw like 400 birds on the barley, and none on the wheat.Even thogh i got 16 birds on the wheat, shold i move over to the barley even if the birds are in flocks like 400? pavman
I would want to be on the field the birds are hiting, mind you as soon as you take a few out they will no doubt move back on the other field out of harms way as long as there is food for them
Pedro
God, I can just about take a photo on my phone Pavman's right, but how about 2 of you setting up, then you can bounce them between you. P.

P. Well, the fileds are like 100 meters apart....would the birds bounce at these short distances?

Ferretboy111
Id say bag the other field with plastic bags the morning u intend to shoot it and then shoot on the wheat field as per usual, or bag the wheat and shoot on the barley. Id also try and get closer to the flightlines and the roosting areas so you are nearer to attrach the birds in from a far. Alex
Cranfield
I would shoot on the barley field. The pigeons are obviously preferring that to the wheat field. My simple rule is.....go where the pigeons are.
lurcherboy
Make them move by putting down white flags to scare them then you make sure your set up is in a safe area Kikkan. LB

LB To bag, or flag a field sounds like a really good idea! Only problem is witch field do i bag/flag? Another problem is that i cant bag a whole field guys! I mean where do i get that much plastic bags... And ill be sure not to get permission to hunt there again as the farmer would think that i am going crazy! But i understand the idea. lurcherboy
Your farmer already knows your crazy Kikkan and sent me e-mails to confirm the fact The flag thing is to scare/turn the woodies away. So if they are hitting a particular crop you can 'guide' them in by placing flags on the surrounding fields. If you back this up with some pigeon scarers/rope bangers they should, all being well, turn your way and commit hari kari over your pattern. Sounds like a plan dosen't it? So it will probably go tits up  LB Make them move by putting down white flags to scare them then you make sure your set up is in a safe area Kikkan. Highlander
Kikkan If you have a spare rotary or don't need to use the one you have you could use that in the field to keep the birds off. Try tying some high vis bags etc to the arms, I use silver foil balloons. Don't like the look of those power lines or the railway. If you have a dog watch the trains and if you do shoot the barley field watch those power lines, both from a shot point of view but also from where you set up your hide etc as theres a lot of metal in the kit. The powerlines goes behind me, but it is also powerlines over the train rails. but to be honnest im not the slightest scared form shooting direct on thoes cables from point blank! Theese cables are unisalated and about 1,5 inch thick (or more), and they are made of twisted solid steel. You can snap theese cables with a 45 Magnum revolver! And i use a shootgun with trapshoot ammo, and they are like 40 - 50 meters away from my hide... if I hit the cables with a ammo like that, and snap the cables.... well, so be it! Ohh, and btw, you cant get to the train tracks, because of a big fence. And no, i dont use a dog. But thnx for the concern Highlander
