Mungler
As an aside, I'm genuinely intrigued what you'd need 2 shotties and a rifle for at once. I don't suppose it matters now.

Mungler
I can understand the bin and burning bit. Breaking into a car? What's that a caution / £100 fine at best. Unlicensed shooters and ammo, well that's a min of 5 years innit The thieves weren't that daft then.
HDAV
I can understand the bin and burning bit. As previously mentioned, bottom of nearest lake, river, sea? Doesn't look like the burning bit has saved their bacon has it.... Not exactly master criminals... Be interesting to see if they do get charged with firearms offences ( unlikely )
Mungler
Burning bin - it lets the police know that they can stop looking for the shooters.

JonathanL
It isn't five years minimum, that's for section 5 stuff. It's stil a whole world of hurt more than just nicking a car stereo. J.
JonathanL
Perhaps they were just dumped in the bin and the fire was a random, beered-up news years eve arson? Probably not but it may have been. J.

Be interesting to see if they do get charged with firearms offences ( unlikely ) A lot of thieves are remarkably stupid. The more sensible ways to dispose of firearms with the potential to earn a long jail term may have never crossed their minds - especially if they're on drugs. JonathanL
In short, this was not a crime desigened to get guns from somone. If it were then the guns would still be missing. Basically, it's a couple of scummers who stole more than they bargained for because, as already stated, most petty thieves are remarkably stupid! Another product of an overly generous welfare state.
