Hunter
I have done varius blue 'cover ups' to cover scratches and nicks. Effective, but not so good when doing whole barrels though. I used this stuff: http://www.wholesalehunter.com/product/bir...dGunBlueing.htm Otherwise you can either have your gun Anodised (bling, but protective) or powder coated, a tough powder coating in any desired colour. Hunter
My bad Im sure I saw someone with an anodised action a while ago..
Lord Geordie
You can only anodise aluminium, not steel. Hydrographics do a baked on epoxy coating which looks top dollar and is sure to be very protective. I beg to differ you CAN anodise steel You can buy Anodised steel belly button rings AND anodised steel screws in various colours Anodised only means an Oxide coating on metal. the last engineer
the three types of anodizing we use in production here have their use's 1 is to reduce the corrosive properties of air on aluminium 2 is to reduce the conductivity of aluminium parts in electrical use's 3 is to harden the surface for resistance to wear, eg thread galling or mold wear under extreme temps and so on to add pretty colors is redundant in our shop, even though the red looks pretty their are more uses but im not as familiar with. any number of steels and alloys can be treated by varying process just a little fyi. Hunter
Thanks, glad I didnt say a fib in the end.. Anodising must be done somewhere decent, because cheap anodised produces flake of. (cheap chavy bling from Argos) but it can look good if done sensibly, EG dont do the whole gun in gold
Gordon R
Is your gun an auto? I know a gunsmith who does nickel plating and very nice it looks. However, I have only seen autos done by him.
