mad1
Hi all .. I have chance of making some of my own rounds ( a work mate does target shooting and will let me have use of his gear !!) Obviously I will use expanding heads ?! The gun is a cz527 varmint 1:12 twist and 24 inch barrel It's going to be used on fox at 100/200 yards .. At min I'm trying a box of 55gr v-max which do go well !! Many thanks M1
al4x
26 grains of varget with a 55 grain sierra blitz king always worked in mine. Very accurate and sorts foxes very well

mjj160
I use 24grains of Hodgson H335 with 55g V Max bullets, in my .Tikka T3 in 223 calibre with 20 inch barrel, this gives 2800 FPS. and not had any complaints from Mr Fox. However if I was just starting out reloading I would look at using Vhit powder as its cheaper and more readily available, maybe go this route myself if can be bothered to do the load development once again Get your mate who is lending you the gear to give you some tuition first so that you know exactly what to do. its not rocket science !! By the way this is a hobby in itself !!
al4x
Just to add. Whats safe in someone elses rifle might not be safe in yours. That load is safe in any .223 as its a mid load powder wise. What makes you think it could be unsafe cocker?
cockercas
Nothing alex. Just a general obsivation. Whats safe in yours (or anyone elses) might not be safe in someone elses. I dont load .223 so i dont know if its a mild load, or a red hot one. Edited January 13, 2013 by cockercas
