Hi folks

I just thought I send out a post just to see if anyone has any pigeon shooting available

Held my licence for 3 years now, also insured ! Just want to get out there more!!

Wouldn't mind shooting with a more experienced shooter to learn

I know posting on here isn't the best way to gain permission ! But PW goes out to a wider audience! Thanks for commenting anyway :)

just see it from my point of view...

Here is someone with a couple of posts asking to be taken out onto a permission that someone has gained and work hard to keep..with no information about them self...would you invite a complete stranger into your house????

Just outside Norwich mate, bergh apton!

Leeds chimp fair enough but I'm not looking for an argument, I was simply asking ! Everyone starts somewhere !

yes and I started with an air rifle till i knocked on enough doors to get quite a few permissions....and then I started taking other peopl out with me aswell..

So a little info about yourself does help as quite a few people on here knwo that i take out for free

Ok I understand ! All I was doing was trying to broader my horizons ! Yeah iv got six air rifles I use a fair bit ! In people's gardens etc ! With rat / rabbit problems! I'm going to ask a farmer for some permission today , iv know him quite a while so I'm hoping with the correct approach he'll say yes! Are they any good tips for this ? The only prob is that the gamekeeper is rearing birds ! But I'm hoping that when he's done there will be some good shooting ! As the crop every year get destroyed by pigeons!

Any help/advice will be taking with ears wide open!

Thanks fella

I can't belive this.....where is the problem....This young man as asked a very simple question...in a polite way.

Why you have to comment in that in such bad way.....YOU NOT HELPING KNOWONE WITH THAT ATTITUDE

We should encourage young guns and not make them feel guilty because we have permission, (YES Leeds Chimp..I know we all earned the permission the hard way...but do we have to make other people that want to start feel the burdon...NO we shouldn't.....only my personal opinion).

I also know that some of us, lost their permission due to people going back to farmers and stealling the rights, still we should be very clear with the guests and tell them that its not a option to go on their own on the permission.

Surely someone will help a young gun a little bit

when you have been on here a while you get people pop up with 1/2 posts asking for permission or want shooting then you read it and thats it....

I..on the other hand take people out so was asking a little bit more about the person before I decide to offer them a days shooting....

Now get down off your high horse

Completely agree Highbird

Why is this forum such a closed shop :hmm: People find this site, register, post in the shooting wanted section...........for obvious reasons, and instead of a welcome, they get hacked for not serving an apprenticeship of posts  . Give the guy a break. Its such an unnecessary and aggressive attitude. He has posted a polite intro and request.

Marrochi, unfortunately you will get some bone headed remarks, ( you will see who they are as they will now rant on!) but there are also some decent guys on here. I'm sure that if there is someone who is in a position to help you out, they will have the good sense to pm you and find out all they need to know about you. Thats how it worked for me. Good luck mate. :good:

I don't think Chimp was aggressive at all and if you compare his response to some on other similar posts you will see what I mean.

With respect to the OP if he had done some searches under the wanted section he would have got an idea as to how these type of posts are received, basics such as personal profile being one of them.

Though I agree that it's good to help people starting out, asking for permission to shoot after one or two posts in my opinion isn't the best approach. Get involved in the site, go to some meets or events and get to know people. Chimps point was valid in that people feel more comfortable when you have a basis to evaluate a charachter.

Just my two pence worth.

Mr. Leeds Chimp

It dosen't cost much to use manners and be polite, without been such a scroooge like you in this case. And please don't pull out the card...I have been here 50 years and so on, what difference does it make?? As I said we should help and not been so bad tempered an unpolite in our answers...then we moan if we don't have new blood joining the hunting comunity.

Yes maybe Marocchi could have put a little more infos......but would have cost you to much...Saying Hi Fella how are you...where you from...tell me a little about yourself?

Why you had to repply like that...I really can't see the point, dosen't make you wiser nor bigger son.

Turbo33...spot on....there a lot of good guys here, Marocchi don't waste your time reading silly and not helpfull answers.

Hi Cos,

But thats my point....if we compare some of other responses.....does that mean, because someone as respond harshly to someone else...we follow the trend?

I don't see the point and dosen't help nor I don't understand why, maybe its me been to much sensitive.

Many people on the Forum, including Cosd and Leedschimp take new comers out shooting. But before you do something like this you need to get a feel for the person, for all we know he could be an anti and trying work a fast one. Permissions are hard won and easily lost, and many of us have worked hard to gain the permissions we have. Asking for assistance in how to get a permission rather than asking, or appearing to ask for a donation does not work. The vast majority of members of PW are really good guys ans gals, helpful, charitable and knowledgeable. Rather than the "oldtimers" as we are being told to wind our neckes in the "newbies should get a feel for the forum by reading the posts and contiibuting, the journey then becomes a much more pleasant trip.

I hope we will see Marrchi93 at the Norfolk Flush on March 9th, here he will meet up with 100plus PW members, what better way to perhaps get an invite or two out.

If you new neighbour came knocking on your door the first day they moved in saying I undertand you shoot pigeons can I share your permission, before introducing themselves, how would you feel?

The forum and it's many members are here to help and more often than not do help, but you have to us the chance as well as us giving you the chance.

I do see your point BB, but if he had posted in the "shooting available section" " Not been on here before, just landed myself 600 acres of prime pigeon shooting, does anyone want to come?" How many people on here that post these negatives would say "No mate, don't even know you, you have to put X number of posts on here before anyone will come with you" It does work both ways

I fully agree Bakerboy, I'm not disputing Leeds Chimp nor Cosd very kinds invite to new and young guns, I have spoke with Cosd a few times on the phone and he seems to be a fine gentleman, unfortunally I haven't had the pleasure to speak with Leeds Chimps, but I'm sure he is a gentleman too.

I'm only contesting the way we respond to post, we could just be a little more polite, thats all.

Hello mate

Listen I don't disagree that there's no need to be aggressive, but that's the problem with forums and reading something, it can be read or taken in many different ways. I read it and didn't think it aggressive, others read it and think it is. I've met the Chimp and other than supporting a bad football team he's an all right bloke. I doubt he meant it the way it was perceived.
