henry d
After the Brilliant day at Bisley(and campfire stories from Ive)I have been really enthusiastic about paper punching. So as we have a Sports and Welfare fund at work I have tested the water to see how many people would be interested in a "Target Sports" section and within 5 minutes of sending an E-Mail I had 2 people who would really like to try it ................YES 2 people who had never tried any form of shooting but wanted to give it a whirl I only expected to get one or 2 that I know that do shoot,so this was totally unexpected I`m well chuffed. Even if it doesn`t get off the ground due to lack of numbers or P.C. Who gives a (N.A.M.A.W.) as I`ll take them out to a range and get them all enthusiastic, like I was after Bisley. Lastly thanks to Nick again for starting something
Suffolk shooter
Went to bisley on Sturday with Martin cavie, had a great time. I went earlier in the year and it was heaving. At least this time they restricted the numbers, shame about the fog on Stickledown, but throughly enjoyed the Blackpowder Muzzleloaders and the 300yd match class rifle. Cheers Martin
MC
As you all probably know I probably do more target shooting than anything else. I have just joined the NRA and have been approved for full membership. This means I can now hire any firearm from the armoury as well as have a valid reason for fullbore rifles on my FAC and anythingelse that they shoot at Bisley. A variation for a 7.62 target rifle has already gone in.

pin
I'd love to go to bisley, can I just show up there etc? I used to shoot for the cadets years ago, 22lr and some fullbore stuff, wouldn't mind another crack at it

Each discipline costs different amounts. you can easily go through £20. It's agreat day out, I've been twice this year, both open days and have tried running deer, 300yd match rifle - Dioptic sights, McQueens (Snap precision at 300 yds scoped), blackpowder 6 shooter pistol, .22 underlever, John wayne style underlever rifle, (superb, sod trying to hit the target, just see how quick you can shoot and reload the thing), .177 air rfifle, 12g blackpowder hammergun muzzleloader. Next year I want to have ago at the 1000yd f class rifle and the other 1000yd rifle and the Lee enfield 303. It is definitely best to book on line as the first time we went in May, there were 1300 people, but they limited it to 800 people last weekend and it was so much better, less queueing. If you fancy it, see you next year (I trust we're going again Martin?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?) PLEASE, Pretty Please
pin
Cheers! I used to shoot the lee enfield 303 in competitions as a cadet, a bloke down one of my clubs had one the other week, home loaded 50% military rounds and let me have a go, cracking rifle that Will go and do the research

I was going this Saturday but the people I was going with are now going on Monday and I can't do that otherwise you could have come along and had a bit of a play. I will be needing to get down there after I get back from Scotland as I have to zero up my red dot sight ready for the next trip, and then again after that to take it off and the scope back on again If you are interested let me know maybe we can meet up there with a few other PW'ers if they are about? It's the Trafalger meeting this coming weekend, not sure what that is all about though.

Suffolk shooter
Not sure, but i thought I saw flyers on saturday there about a open comp and i think this is the trafalgar meet, Martin Cavie would probably know. They have an event called the phoenix event which i believe is for FAC shotguns, not sure when this one is, but again Martin would probably know. Was Martin the boy with his hand up all the time at School as well? OK, it's a deal, when I know when I am down there next, I will post it on here, with a much warning as poss - we always need 'butt boys' anyway Edit: Thinking about a bit more, it will have to be the weekend of the 4/5th November as that is the only weekend I have free. MC
They have 3 major competitions at Bisley throughout the year, the Imperial, The Pheonix and the Trafalgar. I know that the imperial is mainly for target rifle and there are various competitions at differing ranges from 300 to 1200yds. The pheonix is a multi discipline meeting where you can pretty much shoot what you want including single slug shotgun at a target @ 100 and 200yds. I think that the Trafalgar meeting is more about vintage firearms and black powder. Lots of noise and smoke. You can now hire the electronic targets on century range by the hour and you do not need a butt marker. I plan to do this at some point later in the year. I would be up for another Bisley meet any weekend you like. And no Stuart I wasn't the one at school with my hand up all the time. I was the little sod he was always doing what he shouldn't. They were the best years of my life.
