seeker
yes-ish .... But you may be able to get as close by using a solid rest and sighting through the bore if that's possible ... I use a chamber type to double check the scope is still on target and , mostly, to set up the Chrono ..
Greenhunter
Used correctly they will get you 'on paper' but you will still have to adjust your scope to get an exact zero. The laser goes straight but a bullet is always dropping so if set using the laser your cross-hairs will always be that little bit high. Those are my thoughts on it anyway. dadioles
I don't know what calibre you were thinking of using with a bore sighter but for rimfire it seems to me that they are a waste of time. Remove the bolt and sight through the barrel, I lined up with a neighbours tv aerial as it was clearly outlined against the sky and then adjusted my scope to match (rifle in a bench rest). After that very basic alignment it was just a case of shooting at a large piece of paper at reasonably close range (say 25 yards) and adjusting the scope, increasing the distance, adjusting again..... Try and adjust your scope (use shims if needed) so that when zeroed the vertical and horizontal adjusting ***** are roughly centred and not near their end stops. kent
largely a waste of time, unless you re-zeroing with high value ammo quite often. they just get you on the paper! the lazer ones that fit in the chamber seem the best to me though I personally wouldn't buy one of any type. bedwards1966
I tried one and it was a waste of money. It was a loose fit in the chamber, and the laser didn't come out straight. I though it would be a good way of checking my sights (hoping to save on ammo if/when I knock a scope) but they aren't good enough. Fix the rifle so it's stable then look down the bore and get the sights on target, then shoot it to get it right. Cheap, easy and much better.
