pin
If the award is "most obnoxiously intrusive and cantankerous software package of the year 2006" they are both contenders :look: AVG gold and a decent router are all you need
P03
Well it's just taken me 15 minutes to log on cos I can't get rid of Norton. Anyone know how by the way ?
Cranfield
Well it's just taken me 15 minutes to log on cos I can't get rid of Norton. Anyone know how by the way ? Do a Google search, "get rid of Norton" and you will get 2,040,000 hits. :look: There is a way to do it. What I can't understand is how Norton have allowed themselves to go from market leaders, to the most criticised software item on the Internet. It seemed to conflict with almost every bit of software I subsequently installed and I couldn't believe the speed improvement after I uninstalled it. I also recommend AVG and I have tried them all. pin
Well it's just taken me 15 minutes to log on cos I can't get rid of Norton. Anyone know how by the way ? http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgen...005033108162039 I don't think symantec should be allowed to use the "Norton" brand name any more. Peter Norton was an incredibly talented programmer who sold out a long time ago, I wouldn't be surprised if there was little or none of his old code left in any of the products. henry d
The reason I ask is my time with Norton is up soon and I have ez Armor as a bundle with my comp package for another 2 years free. Should I use ez until it expires or just bin both?? BTW - It may be coincidence but my word docs I tried to print this morning have gone N.A.M.A.W. up :look: The document was alright when I typed it but when printed it`s in one column and I have no idea what has happened! pin
My guess is you have accidentally set or dragged the print margin inside of where it should be, that or you have the wrong paper size selected in the print dialogue. Have a look in File->Page Setup and check the paper you have selected, File->print->properties->Paper/quality->advanced (near the top) Easy way to see if you cracked it before wasting more trees, File->print preview (if it looks right there it will be right)
henry d
I`m afraid it`s some bug, recently when I open any MS document or folder about 90% of the time I get a pop up saying that MS has encountered a problem and needs to close So somewhere in the guts of the comp is a nasty but as yet Norton hasn`t found it or something is not speaking to MS. Another thing recently is my hard disc speeds up for no apparent reason :look: one minute I`m listening to the radio and browsing through PW the next the disc is whizzing away at 20,000rpm,OK I lie but it seems fast as. I had this with MS documents, after a very long search it was traced to a new printer driver that had been installed. Uninstalled and it was fine as soon as it went back it crashed word and excel straight away. I hate to say it but the only cure I found and I tried everything was a complete re-format. al4x
how about any windows updates, this occured after an update up till that point the driver had been working fine over the course of a fortnight or so :look: Things to try are to repair or re-install the programs that are affected first if that doesn't work it may mean a complete reformat. Pain but the PC will probably be much faster afterwards
