turbo33
Fill to 170, not 200bar and refill, at 100bar. That will put you nicely in the flat zone of the power curve, use Air Arms field 4.52 pellets, 30-35 yard zero, that will put you about 1/2" high at 20 yards and flat out to 40......................Then go and enjoy yourself, its a cracking rifle :good: If you find the single shot a bit fiddly (small pellet, cold fingers) get a 10 shot conversion adapter from Rowan engineering. Hope this helps Edited January 31, 2013 by turbo33
jackinbox99
Very nice guns indeed, very accurate and easy to use. My father in law has one the same, and ive got the s410 in .22. My mates got the s400 in .22 also. Everyone I know has one and rates them very highly! If yours is the anti tamper then they are very easy to service yourself. A new seal kit doesnt cost much at all. Enjoy!
lakeside1000
Thanks lads, very useful info, had a look at the 10 shot mod but it appears to be manual rotate, which would seem to be easy to perhaps line up an empty chamber or lose track of shots remaining, the cost is also a little prohibitive at £59.95. so on reflection I will stay with the single shot and see how it goes.As to seals I will probably let the shop take care of maintenance and repairs as I tend to break things when I start fiddling. look foward to getting some field testing soon,

-Mongrel-
It's all been said above to be honest. Great, solid air rifle which is vey accurate in the right hands. Plenty of bits of bling from Rowan WHEN you start feeling the need to personalise it. I found mine shot well from 190 bar down to 100 and was most accurate with AirArms Field pellets. Other than that, jut get out there and practicing. You will with enough practice, be able to put 14 shots within the diameter of a 5p piece at 40 yards! bruno22rf
You will have to spend a lot of money to buy a gun that will outshoot the S400/410-and even then they might be prettier or have a higher shot count but where it matters,in the field, they will need the help of lady luck to out perform you.Your son made a wise choice

lakeside1000
Thanks lads, I've already been whacking pigeons and rabbits with my bsa .22 breakbarrel, but wanted a quieter gun, with the illuminated sight I think this will fit the bill perfectly, still using the 12 gauge over decoys but looking foward to some summer action particularly on the pigeons , Edited February 6, 2013 by lakeside1000
Uncle Albert
Good choice. You won't go far wrong. Yes it's PCP and yes you need a bottle to fill it (or a pump if you are energetic and you can wait for your heart rate to get back to normal). I used to hunt with an AA S410 and very good is was too. Still have it and won't be getting rid of it. Mine's in .22 as the .177 pellets are too small to be fiddling with, especially at night when out lamping. Enjoy it and have fun. SakoQuad
Like everyone else here I rate the AA rifles highly I have owned several - s410 and s510. I would only say that AA pellets were not the best in either of my rifles though others find them fine. I used Logun Penetrators (Pax Exterminators - same pellet) or H&N Field & Target and found both of these consistently accurate. I hope you enjoy your new acquisition, that's a good son you have there!
