Shogun sport advice

I'm toying with the idea of buying a Shogun probably a sport/Trojan. I've seen a few 2006/2007 ones with lowish miles in my price range. It would be a second car, mostly used on the road with the occasional long motorway trip but will also do some light off road work - fields and unpaved lanes mostly.

Any issues I should be aware of or things to look out for?

If it will get used mainly on the road just be aware that the ride quality in these is awful. Very harsh and bouncy. Also fuel consumption is pretty high on these and they are a bit low geared for lots of motorway work.

I had one for a couple of years and used it to trek from the north east down to Suffolk for work every week. I put a lot of miles on it and it was very reliable but the service schedule was something like every 6000 miles which made running it costly.

If i were you i would look at something else, possibly something more refined.

Basically with what you will spend they are behind the shogun, for some reason they left them with the older less fuel efficient engine. The shogun got the new one first then the l200 got them in 2006 but they left the shogun sport on the old 2.5 you will get 30 mpg and they are fine but that age you can get more refined from a standard shogun

i have one great jeep but only geting 21mpg parts are expensive as with the large 18inch tyres cheep ones are over £100 but very reliable 4wd never seems to give trouble unlike some other ones but if you go to sell it again dont expect it to go straight away ive had mine about a 18months have drooped £3000 off what i give for it and bein tryna sell if for two months now

I have never owned one personally but been told they drink fuel compared to others and the parts are expensive when they do go wrong, I am not sure of your budget but a standard shogun with the 3.2d engine is a much superior motor.

They are cheap compared to shoguns and on the 4d56 engine that Mitsubishi use in all sorts. It's slightly old technology and you may use more fuel than the newer models but the offset is purchase price. Spares are cheap from milners as lots share between them the older shoguns and the l200's
