I went out yesterday morning to try and take care of a few problem corvids at my parents place, it started off well as I had only just got into position when the first magpie landed no more then 10 yards from me luckily with its back to me so it didnt see me raise my HW100 and send a pellet his way catching it in between the shoulders dropping it on the spot. I knew there would be another not far away so got myself behind some cover and sure enough after a couple of minutes it made the mistake of showing itself around 35 yards away, I knew I could take my time so the shot was perfect but it fell into some thick cover so I was unable to retrieve it :sad1: . After about half an hour a crow landed in a tree about 18 yards away, I had to get into a stange positon to take the shot as there were power lines in the way but in the end the shot was good and the crow tumbled to the ground next to the first magpie. After that nothing else showed so I packed up and headed home.

In the evening, as I had earned some brownie points earlier in the week, I thought that I would go and see if I could bag a bunny or two on one of my newish permissions. It didnt start off well as there was a strong wind and no matter what I did it always seemed to be behind me and an easy shot at a feral pigeon was fluffed, in the end though I headed off to the other side of the farm and the wind seemed to calm down. I spotted the first rabbit at 70 yards in the "dump" I used an old tyre to cover my approach and closed the distance down to 32 yards and set my sticks up. I slowly stood up and the rabbit was still there with no clue, I waited for the wind to stop and pulled the trigger then watched the bunny do a backflip and lie motionless. As I walked up to pick it up I noticed five bunnys running to the hedge, I kicked myself for getting to excited but thought I would try and stalk them, I managed to get to a gate post and there was a rabbit sat by its hole, I used the range finder and it was 47 yards, 1.5 mill holdover. I watched as the pellet hit its mark and then as the rabbit flipped and dived down a hole, gutted! I stalked up to where I had hit it but couldnt see it, I knew it couldnt of gone far so got my torch out and there it was 3-4 foot down the hole, hmmmmm, I had a brainwave and used my shooting sticks like chopsticks and pulled it out, happy days! :yahoo: .

I carried on my mooch up to the manure heap, there were five rabbits the other side of it and as I am getting new camo gear today I lay on the heap to take the shot and missed!! The rabbits all bolted but one stopped and thanks to the quick reload of the HW100 I got another shot off and the last bunny of the night fell at 42 yards. After a long weekend spent in London a day like yesterday was definatly needed
