ME
I'm doing our back garden this summer. Seriously not looking forward to it I have got a gang of Polindians that will do it for a tenner. I will expect you to get me a place on the moderating team for that though
vampire
So you got two areas done by a guy who you say did a good job,but your still looking to find someone else !, loyalty........... As to the rest of this thread, cowboys, immigrant workers, illegals, cash in hand from free to £200 a day and we wonder why the construction industry is on its knees. Makes me mad, how you are supposed to compete on an even keel, with insurances, warranty, public liability,h&s,proffesional training and qualifications + ongoing pd,machinery, advertising, cost of membership to governing bodies etc etc............... DSPUK
""So you got two areas done by a guy who you say did a good job,but your still looking to find someone else !, loyalty..........."" It's not a case of loyalty - yes he did a good job mainly - he put last line 2" too high to match with what I want doing now so it will need sloping up to meet last lot he did. He never listened to me - kept on about how good his 100 pound level was - I said I didn't want them level but sloping down to where they meet next lot. I was just seeing if others worked for same price -- I do feel now that they didn't want the job as it was too small so over priced it. I have called him back in to price it up so will see soon. RED BEARD
if he was going from point to point why didn't he use a line?
castletyne
Two blokes 3 days = £1100 thats £183 each per day. I can get Poles to do that for £70 a day and they will do a brilliant job and I doubt it would take them three days. I can get Indians to do it for £40 a day but they would be illegals. Never the less they will do a good job. No wonder nobody wants to employ British workers any more. I was watching two so called builders working on an extension last week. Turned up about 9.30 did a couple of hours work. Sat in the van for two hours reading the paper then did a bit more. Started clearing up about 3.30 and were gone just after 4. If I were employing them I would have paid them off after the first day and told them not to come back. Polish blokes will graft all day from 8.30 to five and you give them a case of beer to take home on top of their wages they are delighted. Such a difference, always nice blokes too, none of the attitude and arrogance you get with British slobs sorry workers! if you can get poles to do it for £70 then you must be charging more How do we know that the builders who quoted the prices aren't using poles to do the job
cuffy
if you got two quotes for £1100 that is probably the going rate in your area every one knows someone who will do a job cheaper than the last bloke but will they be paying there taxes or signing on ?? Was just curious, though I see you have worked on the basis of working every day of the year I was working on 240 x 5 working days a week x 52 weeks a year Thus £62400 assuming you only ever have weekends off (which is an assumption in itself!) chady
Yea I know your not going to realistically but I would like to hear from a window cleaner in central London earning that or around that figure And I don't want to hear from some one who has a big cleaning company Because that is different Was just curious, though I see you have worked on the basis of working every day of the year I was working on 240 x 5 working days a week x 52 weeks a year Thus £62400 assuming you only ever have weekends off (which is an assumption in itself!) pimpkiller
My best mate set himself up as a window cleaner, bought a round out of the paper, a cheap combi van then the gear just does it local dosnt even advertise always has work he makes £30 an hour easily and thats Stoke on trent. The thing with window cleaning is its seasonal and effected by weather but on the other you are self employed and get all the perks. Hes expanded into landscaping/drives/fencing/conservatories that sort of thing as well Wish I never went to college
