What time for the late feed?

Just found a local rape field with a few birds on it :thumbs:

 

Just wondering what the best time to go back to shoot it is

 

It's a cold day out there don't want to sit around looking at an empty field for too long

 

Strangely there's nowt much on the local drillings

Start early and plan to finish late!

if its going to be a cold night, they tend to stock up late.

You'll quite often find them dropping in en masse when the sun has gone down, It can be a mad half hour until the tap goes off and its nearly dark.

I ended up set up at 1.30 and sat there for 3 hrs watching two balls of pigeon flying around adjacent fields and then to sit in trees digesting when the gas guns fired.

 

Very little came in but the few shots I did get saw two nice decisive kills with my hushpower using my homeloads and the lack of noise is almost comical.

 

Watched a pair of foxes messing about in the corner of the field too which was interesting, but it's very hard to get on terms with the pigeons when they form such a tight group.

 

Typical of this time of year really, oh well at least I've got my tea out of it

Its a weird time of year and rape is imo the worst to decoy over. Some days its just good to get out though. Well done on the supper and more satisfying with your own loads

Set up on rape at 1pm today,had 2 hrs of nice decoying.Not masses of birds,but small groups

that decoyed perfectly!Ended on 20 for 41 shots.

The weather is the key,it was sunny and warmer than of late.
