welshwarrior
When did Nitromors turn gay. I got a new tin that now has green gel not the creamy white stuff and its rubbish it does not work as well, just to check i found an old tim in the shed and it lifted the same varnish off in one go. So what do people use now the old reliable Nitromors is gay (and not in a good way)
Brown Sauce
Completely agree with you about the mincing state of nitromors, meant to be a new improved formula, my *****. When I bought the London gun stock kit from my local gun shop, they kindly lent me a can of Napier varnish stripper, which worked in one go. sandspider
I used something called Paint Panther from Toolstation. Not as good as old school nitromors, but it did the trick. The key is to lay it on thick, and leave it for 5 -10 mins to work (resist the urge to scrape sooner, as I did!), then scrape, then more Paint Panther etc.
karpman
Had same problem. Can only get the proper stuff if your in a trade now and in 5l tubs. Never understood how removing some ingredients to bring it up to EU standards can improve it? Luckily I was in the position to order a 5l tub and put it through work. Happy days. Snap Cap
As most paint products are going waterbased you will probably find this new nitromors strips water based gloss and varnish like the old one did with oil based products. Snap Cap
Yep its all gone a bit mamby pamby. I think rustins still make a caustic/acid based stripper though probably not for much longer. Nitromors varnish stripper was the the biz but like HP sauce is pretty useless now.

Does it stain the wood or anything?
