The emails going around about what people are bringing are making me drool. It's going to be a good one.

So far the weather forecast comprises of the basic elements of the weatherman's arsenal, namely pictures of sun, cloud and rain.

As long as it doesn't put the fire out we'll be OK.

Are we going to state what we can find and then have somebody make an executive decision as to what we should actually bring as I'd hate to see stuff that I've spent months plucking getting taken home all thawed and tired looking. The rabbits are the worst but I'm getting better. I can pluck one in about two days now.

Do we know what the running order is yet for meals?

What do you want me to bring? Fish is not going to happen. Spent two hours in the surf last night hoping for a nice Bass and didn't even get a sniff.

I've got rakes of quality vac packed pigeon and could do a pukka casserole for one course if that fits in with the overall plan? Theres the game and wildfowl that I can bring also if required. I'll bring along a few local ingredients and lots of homemade slash including last years cider which I've named rectal proplapse.

Rob: check your email.

Don't worry about the fish, Nick has that sorted.

Casserole sounds great, more the merrier. You could always check with Nick if you like, emails, Facebook etc are going about tonight.

Meals are going to be decided tomorrow with the input of the executive chef.

Reckon we won't be going hungry! ;)

Arrival from 12:00 - we'll get the fire going then, Mike and I are hoping to be there for 12:00.

Yes please bring as much pigeon as you want, same for everything else really. It's all going to go to a good home.

I could do with some pigeon for home so I can bung you something in return for a few.

So, who got the mascot this year? Leaving it in my load cover on the truck was a very good idea, but I use it every day and any changes the the way it's sitting are quite noticeable. I found it and shoved it under the passenger seat of Nicks Ranger - I wonder if that was the last movement?

What a great weekend. I'm stuffed as usual and I'm sure I left with more food than I took?!?! Highlight of my weekend was the air rifle comp. I didn't win this year but I still beat Dave by a tiny margin so I'm happy with that!

Just back. An epic weekend as ever. Superb food, company and craic. I ate like Henry the Eighth competing in 'Man V Food'. There were too many funny moments and great stuff for my alcohol and food addled body to recount at the moment. I let Neil beat me in the air rifle comp because he's been practising so hard and his ego is so fragile  Not sure who the 'baton', was eventually passed to? I've checked my truck very carefully, but I just know my 80 year old mum is going to find it next time she visits  I shall leave the dits, anecdotes and **** taking to others. For now, just before I visit the vomitorium and collapse in a coma for a week, I leave you with a few pics:

Great pictures Dave, gives a flavour of what we had. I've got some more pics too which I will post up.

To my knowledge I don't have the 'baton' - but who knows, maybe I just haven't found it yet. ;)

Just refresh my memory, who was it who won the rifle competition again?

Can't remember who won :whistling: , some flukey shot from some bloke who spent most of the weekend in his pit!

Some recipe links for some of the stuff that I did for those that asked:

Wild garlic pesto - I followed this pretty much to the letter and was pretty pleased with how it turned out - dead easy and quick to make.

'Pigeon watch pie' - The recipe is for a posh chicken and ham pie, I just swapped the chicken for rabbit and pheasant, you could use pretty much any game. I also added some tarragon which isn't in the recipe.

Wild garlic and nettle soup - I reversed the garlic/nettle ratio on this and was probably a bit more generous than it says full stop with the garlic. Good quality stock really lifts it too :good:

Venison casserole - I used this recipe as a basis, but also added some sloe gin and a lot of the fresh herbs Malcolm bought.

Simple bread recipe - This was a revelation, I'm gonna be making this all the time now! I always thought making bread without a bread maker was difficult. Its a flippin doddle!

We won't talk about the fella who won the air rifle comp. Most of us were up by 8.30am, me earlier so I could go shooting before the place livened up for the day. Said comp winner got up at what? 2pm? The rest of us were well into the sloe gin by then - we didn't stand a chance!

I'll have you know it was no later than 1:45!

Did I mention that I won the comp using open sights too? (Malcolm, can I buy that rifle from you, tell you what, to sweeten the deal I'll give you what you paid for it, no questions asked)

OK so here are a few things we did.

Ate more gorgeous food than anyone really should in a 48 hour period

Tried loads of new stuff, and recipes all with a general thumbs up all round

Malcolm did a brilliant knife-sharpening demo with his oilstones

Many many laughs, sadly few that can be set down in writing (for de fear of de Lion ;) )

Evaluation of the funniest PW threads and it's basically tattoo ones

Evaluation of dating web sites and "Local Slags" coming up favourite

Sadly due to a malfunction in the fridge department no deer butchery this year but that's on the agenda

Nine of us went this year (usually eleven but we had two men down). Most of us agree the numbers are pretty much there but as always if any member is a real foodie and interested please PM me. The event wil be on again next year and we are also looking at a few Cotswolds shooting get-togethers during 2013. Maybe an informal go on the clays with a BBQ if we can swing it on somebody's permissions, and we are also looking at a few other options.

Watch this space and a huge thank you to everyone who came and contributed so much.
