JDog
I had a drive round this afternoon looking for somewhere to shoot at the weekend. The field of linseed on my new ground which I reported had been cut in February was covered in pigeons. I watched them for half an hour or so and there was traffic to and from the field for the whole of that time. At any one time there must have been 400-500 pigeons feeding. The very frustrating and irritating part of this is that there is just no way that I can safely shoot the field which is bordered on three sides by roads. Believe me I looked at the situation from all angles but I know that there is no possibility of setting up and shooting safely. I may try to shoot the corner of one wood nearby with possibly just a rotary in an attempt to decoy some of the pigeons off their line but I know that it will not be easy. oscarsdad
Very frustrating. There are 1000s around my village at the moment which is even worse as they are all on the keepered estate land so no permission possible!

JDog
how big is the field jdog?. is there no way of keeping the birds off the linseed. ie bangers, bags scarecrow etc. I could keep them off the field with bangers but there are no alternative fields for them to feed on nearby and I would rather like to keep that flock handy so that when they drill another field nearby they will get onto that. That is the theory at least.
aga man
yes i suppose having them on the linseed at least keeps the on your permission. just thought perhaps if your were decoying nearby rape for example, keeping them off the linseed might push some your way. i suspect you have already thought of all these things though best of luck
