fenboy
Got a letter in the post today offering me a place in Holbeach and district wildfowlers , so looks like I will be getting muddy come september. Its something I have thought about for a number of years and thought I had better take the plunge ( not literally I hope) before I got too old and even less fit than I am now I am sure if I did not give it a go for a season I would have always regretted it . At £100 for the season including BASC its got to be a bargain if just for the fresh air , that's less than £40 for a seasons shooting if you deduct the money I am already paying for BASC. So I had better get stocked up on some steel, from what I hear a box of ten should do me fine for the season
la bala
years ago i was in fenland and gedney drove, that amount of cartridges would have lasted me two seasons.
Mr-Sheen
Congrats! Im sure you will enjoy your time on there. Some very good shooting to be had and i think you can be a little more optimistic than 10 cart's, maybe 20....at a push

ayano3
Joking apart. You will enjoy the sport if you are up for a challenge and the company is good. Take notice of your mentor and do your homework. A good idea is to make a few notes about the flight ie tide height and where you go etc. That way you can look back at your notes and think about if your safe there the next time etc
The Ghost
Congratulations Fenboy, a goose is just a big pigeon after all....you will be OK. Oooops, just seen one on YouTube how are you going to kill one of them they are huge? Good luck trying, you will love it.
Big Mat
I suppose i best send my cheque in or else i won't be joining you all down there again this coming season. Keeping notes on tides and where you went is a good idea, i didnt but i probably should have. I found the maps you get sent to be a little difficult to understand, but bugging one of the more "senior" members gives you all the information you need! I am sure it will be fine , iI will have to up the shot size to 71/2 s and in steel rather than my usual 9s , but at least I then know I will handle any goose within 80 yards or so. I will also have to get some stronger arms made for the magnet if its going to support a couple of geese !!.
