JDog
Another one of my favourite birds. How do they find seeds such as the one in it's mouth in the snow?

docholiday
Should be a good set up but to get these sort of pics you need to get lucky or use a hide and feed the birds over a long period of time, each one of these shots has usually taken many hours or days of planning and a whole load of luck, would love to see some of your shots. you will find that shots taken down onto birds dont really work, eye level or bird slightly higher helps, get out into the garden you will be suprised how close you can get once the birds are feeding, use early or late light when its coming over your shoulder to get the best results these were with 600mm lens
welshwizard
my budget only allowed the 300mm in Nikon lens and i thought better to stick to that rather than a cheaper brand however I,ve seen some good results with lenses like optima ,i,m not sure about posting photo on here do I just use a link ? docholiday
If its a Nikon 300mm it will be more than adequate, you could look at buying a teleconverter to increase focal length, I have always stuck with Canon lens, as sigma etc are not as sharp whatever anybody may tell you To post a photograph I download to photobucket and then copy the link into the appropriate box from above menu
